From Bamboo to Trellis: Giving Our Vines Something to Climb
Happy Sunday Hivers!
Having a bamboo trellis built for our garden was actually one of the plans my mom and I had from the beginning. But since we had so many other garden improvements to prioritize first, it ended up being delayed for quite some time. And after waiting for a while, our bamboo trellis is finally up! It feels so satisfying to finally see one of our plans become a reality.

Originally, our plan was to grow bitter melon here, but since we already have another spot where we can grow it, we decided to use this trellis for bottle gourd and squash instead.

Our bottle gourd seedlings are now ready for transplanting, while we only recently sowed our squash seeds. So, obviously, the bottle gourd will be the first one to be planted here.
This is our first time using a trellis, and we’re planning to let two different kinds of vegetables climb and grow on it. We’re hoping they’ll thrive, stay healthy, and eventually produce plenty of fruits for us to enjoy.

I really love how the trellis turned out, and I’m already so excited to see the bottle gourds and squash hanging from it once they start producing fruit. I can’t wait to see it covered in vines and fruits!
By the way, our neighbor is the one who built this for us. Whenever we need something repaired around the house or want to make improvements in the garden, he’s usually the one we call. Of course, we pay him for his work. We definitely couldn’t build something like this ourselves, so we’re grateful to have someone nearby who can help us with these projects.

For now, we just have to wait for our little plants to grow. Hopefully, they will do well and soon we’ll have a beautiful trellis full of green vines and fresh vegetables.

Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog. Cheers!

Namaste! I am fond of reading books, watching korean, american and filipino series/movies and I am also fond of gardening. I love listening to different life stories and I am always captivated with the beauty of nature so travel is my escape when life turns into blue. But hey, how could I forget my photography hobby? It is one of the best, so follow me as I will be featuring my experiences of the stuff that I am passionate with.
That is a great idea for your vines, and it looks nice too!
Yeah, the bottle gourd and squash really need this. Thanks to our neighnor who made our plan into reality.
Thanks.
Having a trellis around your garden means a lot of plants that you can grow like the squash and etc. Your neighbor is a good carpenter that he can make something like this. How I wish my backyard is as big as yours so that I can make trellis like this and make my own garden and plant some seeds or even veggies that I can think of.
It’s perfectly fine even if your backyard is small. You just have to make the most of the space you have. You can also build a smaller trellis that fits your available area. I saw a post on Facebook where someone planted string beans in a container and made a small trellis for it. So you can definitely make a small trellis too, just enough to support your plants without taking up too much space.
Great post! We appreciate you!
