My Father's Specialty

Happy Monday Hivers!

I could feel the excitement in his voice when I called him. 'What time will you come here?' he asked with enthusiasm. After I attended the mass, I replied and asked him if he could cook humba (braised pork dish) for dinner that night. He said yes with great enthusiasm.

I have already mentioned in my blog that I am not fond of humba, even if it is the bestseller in a restaurant - I simply don't eat it, EXCEPT for my father's humba. The way he cooks it is different from others', and its taste makes me want to add more rice to my plate.

My father knows that cooking is not my strongest suit, so every time I ask him to cook a dish that I want to eat when I visit him, he pleasantly cooks it.

He texted me the ingredients and asked me to purchase them all, but my older brother bought them himself. After attending mass, my niece @melria06 and I went to my father's house.

We assisted him while he was cooking humba. I was the one who did the slicing of the ingredients so he wouldn't get easily tired. He simply instructed me on his preferences.

While waiting for the humba to finish cooking, I prepared the table so we could immediately eat once it was done. After almost two hours of cooking, it was finally ready.

The aroma filled the entire house, making our stomachs growl in anticipation. We savored each bite and expressed our appreciation for my father's culinary skills. It was a wonderful and satisfying dinner that we all enjoyed together.

Since my brother and his wife were unable to come to my father's house that night due to an important matter to attend to, we brought humba for them.
