A Light-Hearted And Fun Watch —Review Of A Royal In Paradise (2023)

There are some days that a light-hearted romance film is what you need on a Sunday to de-stress and probably prepare for another busy week ahead. After I'd written a post yesterday, I went through my streaming site to decide which film to watch. I have Avatar: The Way Of Water (2023) on my PC but I'm so reluctant to watch because it's three hours long! Until I know I can spare that time, then you'll be reading my review on it soon.

So I finally settled for this cute romance film titled A Royal In Paradise (2023) just because the lives of royals fascinate me and I know this one is make-believe. I can live with that. I'm not expecting too much!

The film focuses on a New York writer, Olivia Perkins, who just released a successful novel. She plans a romantic getaway at tropical Haven Isles with her boyfriend, Kyle to celebrate. Instead Kyle breaks up with her after learning about the vacation plans.

In another part of the world, we are introduced to Prince Alexander of Torovia whose mother, the Queen, tries to convince him to meet with a suitable noble lady in hopes of her becoming the future queen. Alexander turns down the suggestion and mentions his need to travel to Haven Isles for a rescue gala.

Olivia's editor calls to remind her that she's on a deadline to submit the manuscript for the next book. She tries to write but is unable to due to writer’s block. She walks into a bookstore, buys some books and runs into Alexander.

To help Olivia conquer her writer's block, her friend convinces her to go on a trip to Haven Isles. The two friends arrive at the resort and Olivia is surprised to meet the prince who introduced himself as a commoner, Alexander. The two hit it off not knowing the Queen of Torovia had sent her spy to watch Alexander and prevent any budding romance. Will Alexander and Olivia's story have a happy ending or will their social status stand in the way of love?

Review

The plot of the film is not bad. I like that the director, Adrian Powers, doesn't take this film seriously and concentrates on making it a fun watch. The use of fairytale archetypes in this film makes it enchanting.

Like most royal romances that I've watched, the prince in this one wants a normal life, to be treated like the average person out there and not like a royal. This begs the question: Are the royals tired of being distinguished and prefer a normal life like we common folks? I doubt they would want to give up the attached privileges and wealth though.

The acting was superb. The cast ingrained themselves into their roles with passion and the output was outstanding. I particularly liked Olivia Perkins (played by Rhiannon Fish), a determined writer who got a shocking blow after planning a romantic vacation. She's made of sterner stuff to have quickly fallen in love with a prince immediately after the breakup.

Alexander (played by Mitchell Bourke) is charming as a prince should be. Though his chemistry with Olivia isn't too impressive, he did great all the same.

This film was shot in Australia so the cinematography and visuals are striking. Seeing the stunning and picturesque shots of exotic places, it's like I was transported to Australia’s tropical realms. I wouldn't mind a visit to such a stunning resort.

Overall, A Royal In Paradise is a light-hearted and fun watch recommended for the family.

Hmmm, I think this one will be a good movie for me to relax with this coming Sunday. It been a while I have watched this kind of film. The prince always wants a normal life, I wonder why😂. Always hunting for normal life. This was a lovely read. Thank you for the recommendation.

If there's one thing popular people cherish, it's some form of normalcy and privacy, where they can be themselves and not be judge or held up to any standard. Well, their popularity comes with a price! 😅

I'm sure you'll enjoy watching this film. Its not bad. Thanks a lot for your visit. 💕
