A Visit To Ikeja Mall In Lagos | Camping Club Hive Photography Contest #9

avatar

Hello Hive! This is my first time participating in this contest, thanks to my dear @preets for the invitation. The theme for this contest states: Promote A Place You Like In Your City.

I am a Nigerian and reside in Lagos. We have lots of amazing places and major landmarks that I could talk about for this contest but I will focus on shopping because I love to shop. 😄

The thing is Lagos city, being one of the biggest commercial hubs in the country, is well known for its heavy traffic jams every day of the week, all year round. To move from one place to another could take hours due to traffic. So most residents don't move around much except if it's business/work related and when it's absolutely important.

I stay close to the capital of Lagos called Ikeja and one of the places I visit often to have fun with my family is the Ikeja Mall.

This is a popular place in Lagos that houses the popular supermarket, Shoprite and other fancy shops, restaurants, etc.

I love to visit Shoprite because it has just about everything a person can need and all in one place. This is unlike a normal market where I have to move from place to place in search of certain things.

Lovely display of products

Also their goods and products are quite affordable as I am told they are sold at wholesale price instead of retail because they get their products directly from the manufacturers. No middleman.

One interesting thing about the Ikeja Mall is that residents love to visit this place mainly as an outing and some people relax in the restaurants, eat and take pictures! Well, maybe I'll try that some other time.

This is my entry to the Camping Club Hive Photography Contest #9. I invite @marito74 and @teknon to participate.

My appreciation goes to @visionaer3003, @baycan and the #cch team for this interesting contest.

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Thanks for the mention dear. I really appreciate, let me think if I have anywhere in my city to promote. Lol. I think I do, I'll try I really don't like the city I'm in so I wouldn't like to promote it, don't mind me but I'm serious but then there's a very fantastic place which I'll share later. Thanks again for this invite

Hello friend, thanks for the invitation. I love that you show us a little more of your city, who does not like to go shopping haha, fabulous, a good guide to know important places in Lagos.

...who does not like to go shopping haha,

😄 Exactly but I know some men that don't like to shop so maybe it's a ladies thing!

Thanks for your lovely comment. 🙂

but I will focus on shopping because I love to shop. 😄

hehe...you and me both.

I've passed this mall before but I didn't enter. I like shoprite too because of how cheap everything is. Surprisingly, the shoprite at Jabi lake mall, Abuja have a bit of a hike in price for some of their goods.

No be Abuja! They like to live an expensive lifestyle there and Shoprite has no choice but to conform! 😄

Hey Preets! Yes, Ikeja Mall is a lovely place. That's the reason some residents come here to relax. Without traffic, it should take me about 20 minutes to drive down to the Mall but when the traffic is heavy, it could take like an hour or two. We can never predict this but we are always prepared! 😄 What a life, right?

LoL your mall looks so similar to ours, here in South Africa. Shoprite and PeP are at least common to both and,I believe, exclusive to Africa. If you’ve ever lived in Africa it’s impossible to live, happily, in any other place in the world. There’s a hustle, bustle and heady vibe to our cities that cannot be replaced or reproduced, anywhere, anytime.

I couldn't agree more. As to Shoprite's exclusivity to Africa, I'm not so sure about that. I understand there's one in DC, so. But we have their branches spread out all over Africa.

It's the hustle and bustle that kinda keeps us alive! 😄
