Gratitude For Unconditional Love | ecoTrain Question Of The Week S7#10

Gratitude is one of the virtues of a wholesome life though not everyone practices it. In my culture and family, we are brought up to be thankful for even the littlest thing that someone else of another ethnic group or even another country would take for granted. One way to be ungrateful is to take things for granted.

Growing up, I realized that a thankful person is always full of life and has boundless opportunities in the sense that the door of goodness is always opened to them even when they do not search for it.

Thank you @ecotrain for this week's word of the week because it means I get to reflect on the things that matter to me. I do this almost daily and I count my blessings alongside. Somehow I feel this question is restrictive but I will answer it the best way I know how to.

I cannot name one thing that I am most grateful for, because I am surrounded by many things that deserve my gratitude. I am grateful for life, my family, my friends, for technology (yes, truly), for music, nature, food (lol) etc.

For the purpose of this word of the week, I'll say I am most grateful for the unconditional love of God. It's all encompassing and covers every other thing I am thankful for. If I did not know or understand the unconditional love of God (which I am still coming to terms with, I have not fully grasped it yet), I would not be here, writing this piece. I would not be me.

We live in a generation or a world where the words 'I love you' mean nothing anymore. We have so watered down the emotion behind these solemn words. A lot of people say them while putting the knife to the beneficiary's throat, literally and figuratively.

I get wary when I hear these words spoken around me or if spoken to me. It makes me alert and I have to watch my back because I do not like to be taken by surprise. So when the hammer falls, I already know it's going to and I move out of its way before it descends.

Much as we live in a world where our love has gone cold, we sincerely desire to love and be loved in return. It's an innate desire that comes with our nature and this leads us to seek love in places where we should not. This makes people do unbelievable things just to get an affirmation of love. Then we end up falling into destructive relationships because we are in pursuit of love.

I have been through some love relationships and none can compare to the unconditional love of God. While other loves have failed, disappointed and even betrayed me, this love I write about has not failed and I don't see it failing ever.

What do you do when a person loves you genuinely? You love him or her back. Love is an action and not just mere words. I'm learning how to love God daily. My love efforts are miniscule to that which He shows me but I keep trying everyday. I live with the comfort and assurance that this love won't fail and it's eternal!

What are you most grateful for? It's the season of thanksgiving, so count your blessings and if you cannot think of something to be thankful for, get a sheet of paper and write it all down.

This is my entry to ecoTrain Question Of The Week S7#10. You are invited to participate. Thank you for visiting my blog.

Beautiful... I agree. I wouldn't be where I am today without Him.

And yes...too many people say love is a feeling when it's not. It's an action that should be on display as a measure of that love!

I'm grateful for mercy and grace. Both...so underserved!

Feel like she is little better today, until yesterday there was no improvement, doc changed medicines, i was too stressed last night as she cried a lot for whole of the day.

Will see the doc again probably in the evening.
Thank you for your prayers, she still need them so please don't forget her while you pray.
Thank you dear.

Being thankful is one of the things that keeps our blessings coming.
There is a saying in my place that if you thank someone for what he did for you, he will do more I have grown to understand the meaning of that.
On a second note, what can compare the love of God in our lives, NOTHING.
I'm thankful to God for so many things in my life today - gift of life, provision of food and shelter, strong health of mind and body to mention but few, I am grateful and I will always be.
This is really a good thinking of yours @kemmyb
