The School Proprietor | Freewrite

"Ouch!" I wriggled my fingers and sucked my pinky finger as I hurriedly climb the stairs leading to the school staff room. My cup of hot tea swayed a little and some tea poured on my fingers. Hmm, tasted like the sugar may be a tad too much.

"Mrs Anya! You are late." A dark voice grumbled, distracting me from the taste of my tea. It was the school proprietor. A tall, fit and brooding man.

He stood by the door to the staff room, arms crossed on his chest and glared through his eyeglasses down his nose at me. I was tempted to roll my eyes at him for his thoughtless attitude in addressing me properly.

I stopped beside him and sighed. "It's Miss, not Mrs. Sorry I'm late. I'm here now."

His brows inched up a little at my audacity and response. He removed his glasses and said, "Your pupils are anxiously waiting in their classroom."

For a moment, I froze. I stared into his deep-set, brown eyes. Probably the eyeglasses took the attention off his eyes but without them, he had such beautiful eyes.

"Mrs Anya?"

I blinked quickly, a little embarrassed at staring. "Y-yes. Of course. Heading to the class now."

I started to walk away, gritted my teeth and turned to look at him. "It's Miss, not Mrs!" I said and walked away to start my first day as a substitute teacher to kindergarten children.

Thoughts of a pair of deep-set, brown eyes filled my mind. My curiosity would not be sated until I know the man behind those beautiful, brown eyes.
