The Sly [Poetry]
A little rustle
Something in the depths of the woods, seeks
What was that?
Hush, child
Keep your eyes on me
Look not yonder at the dark sly
An unsettling, loud crunch
Echoes in the deadly silence
A hunter on the prowl
Hush, child
Come into my arms
Away from that sly who seeks and reeks
Dry twigs go snap
Awakening the birds and reptiles
Fluttering Into the sky, scurrying into holes
Hush, child
I'll keep you safe and hidden
From its deceptive smiles and sharp teeth
A loud crackle, bold
Hunger flashes and gleams in its eyes
For a taste of the glowy, bright light
Hush, child
A disguise hides it's umbra from you
A beast layered beneath the skin to seize your light
A deep, growly voice
Patience vanishes and the umbra appears
Its beauty and sharp teeth, a scary sight
Hush, child
Lay in my arms and be safe
That your light may glow out of its reach.
