The Trap At Darkwater Bay [Fiction]
The sun was setting over the ocean, painting the sky with hues of orange and red. Morris, Emma, and Alex, three tourists visiting Darkwater Bay, were on a hike along the coast to watch the sunset.
The tourists had heard about the beautiful spot on the coast where they could watch the sun rise and set from a local fisherman and were excited to see it for themselves. But the fisherman warned that it was best to visit during the day, not at night.
"Don't worry, sir. It's just sunset, after that we'll storm the local bar for some seafood delicacies and good beer!" Alex babbled in excitement. They were having a good time in Darkwater Bay and a spooky superstition from one local fisherman could not dissuade them.
Ignoring the fisherman's warning, the tourists continued on their hike. The sun slowly descended below the horizon and the sky grew darker. The ocean grew louder and the waves crashed against the rocks with increasing force.
Emma positioned herself to take some selfies when she heard a strange noise - like sniffling - that echoed through the rocky shoreline. "Did you hear that?" She asked, looking around warily. The sniffling continued. Alex and Morris became worried.
"I think we should leave," Morris said, looking around nervously. "It's getting dark."
But Alex, the daredevil of the group, was determined to find the source of the noise. "C'mon, let's go see what it is," he said, puffing out his chest.
The tourists followed the sound around a bend and found a young woman sitting on a rock, crying. She was soaked from head to toe and her hair was spread out on the rock like seaweed.
Emma approached the woman, her heart filled with empathy. "Hey, miss. Are you okay?" she asked softly. The woman didn't respond, only continued to cry and sniffle. The three tourists glanced at each other in curiosity. The men turned to look pointedly at Emma who rolled her eyes at them and mouth, "you owe me."
Emma stepped closer, trying to get a better look at her. "Um, did you lose something in the water?" She asked again. The woman glanced up at Emma. Her almond blue eyes were entrancing and hypnotic.
Then the water began to churn and a ghostly figure emerged from the depths. The ghost was a man, dressed in old-fashioned sailor clothes, and his face was twisted with anger and hatred. He began to murmur in an ancient language and the tourists were paralyzed with fear.
"You strangers never learn. Every year, you offer yourselves to me as an offering, and I gladly accept," the ghost growled. Morris and Alex tried to run, but the soft sand had surrounded their legs. They were trapped.
The ghost cackled and hovered toward the crying woman, holding out his hand. "My lady?" he said, offering his hand. The woman took it, smiling through her tears.
Morris and Alex struggled for a few minutes before they were completely submerged in the sand. Emma was nowhere to be seen.
The ghost and his woman sat on the rock, held hands like lovers and watched. The ocean became eerily quiet. The only sound was the distant crash of the waves against the rocky shoreline.
What I see
I see a beautiful and quiet beach with a rocky shoreline. The sky is orange and light pink and partly cloudy like the sun is setting. The water is a deep blue colour.
What I feel
This image evokes a sense of calm due to the quiet water and the vastness of the ocean. It could be a place of serenity for a person.

The seashores brings peace to one's mind.
It certainly does! Thanks.
Ohhhhhh, lots of pity for Alex and Emma, the woman was a bait in disguise
Their enjoyment was short-lived as they were gone dero into the soil
Yep, she was a bait for her sea lover! 😅 If only they had listened to the fisherman. Thanks so much for reading. !LADY
