Time To Say Goodbye

Wura sniffed repeatedly using the edge of her clothing material to wipe tears from her eyes. The rescue dog whimpered and licked her knee. Its golden brown eyes appeared sad. She smiled, stroked its head and scratched its ears.

"I will miss you so much but don't forget me, okay?" Wura whispered hoarsely. The dog placed its chin on her knee and rubbed its wet nose on her hand as if it understood her.

Then she remembered how her bond with the rescued dog came to be. The whimpering and yelping sounds of a wounded animal in pain coming from the direction of the bush close to the pathway drew her attention as she walked to the Iyana river with Prince Adeomi. He had offered to go with her and hunt while she washed at the river.

"Do you hear that?" Wura stopped and pulled Prince Adeomi by his arms backwards.

"Yessss. I can." He nodded. "I think it's a wounded animal. Here, hold my hunting bag and I'll have a look. Wait here." The young man and heir apparent to the Oba's throne walked carefully into the bush in the direction of the sounds.

In less than a minute, Prince Adeomi came out of the bush carrying a wounded, golden-brown puppy. Wura moved closer to pat the dog's head.

"Oh, Adeomi. It looks adorable. I wonder who owns it."

"Hmm. Its hind leg got caught in one of the hunter's traps."

And that was how Wura took the dog home, washed the wounds and nursed the dog back to health. Five days later, Mama Laide came to claim the dog as hers. It was time to say goodbye.

Prince Adeomi walked into the compound and glanced at her teary face. Her face lightened up as he walked closer to her. He mentally promised to get Wura a puppy.

😢If I was the one that rescued the dog, I don't think I will be giving up the dog immediately. The dog is too cute.😅

It is very nice of Wura to have nursed back the puppy to good health. It is going to be painful seeing the dog around anymore.

Enjoyed reading your story

Enjoyed another one of Wura's tales. This time I missed the character of mama Agba. But yes Prince shows the same emotions of care and concern. Hope Prince will bring her a cute Puppy soon 😊

You miss Mama Agba? Aw, 😄. She has a way of bringing some humour and wisdom into the story, ehn? I decided to give her a break in this episode!

Thanks Preets for always coming around to read my stories. Means a lot. Have a great day! 😊

Super interesting! I can feel her bond with the dog. After such care given to that dog, the owner can now come claim it. It's annoying but she had to let go to avoid trouble. !PIZZA

Hahaha, I know! Only for one Mama Laide to come and take the puppy away. If I was the one, I won't let the dog go! Thanks dear for reading and for the yummy pizza! 😊
