SPEAKING IN TONGUE// MCGI TOPIC REVIEW
Speaking in tongues is one of those spiritual topics that often stirs curiosity, questions, and sometimes even confusion. Many people hear of it in religious settings maybe during a church service or through a testimony and wonder what it really means. Is it just about uttering unfamiliar words, or is there something deeper going on?
In his teachings, Bro. Eli Soriano touches on many spiritual matters, and one of the key ideas he repeatedly emphasizes is authenticity in faith and practice. Just like he explains that there is no such thing as being baptized twice if the first baptism was never genuine, the same careful mindset should be applied when we consider spiritual gifts like speaking in tongues.
It’s easy to be drawn into external expressions of faith after all, they’re visible and often emotional. But true spiritual gifts, including speaking in tongues, aren’t for show. They’re not about making noise or being dramatic. Instead, they serve a purpose within the body of Christ bringing edification, revelation, and, most importantly, alignment with the teachings of Christ.
According to Bro. Eli’s perspective, everything must be rooted in truth. If someone was taught by a person who doesn’t have the full understanding of Christ’s commandments, then the things done under that teaching whether baptism or even claimed spiritual gifts may not be valid in the eyes of God. This principle can apply when evaluating if someone’s experience with tongues is truly from the Spirit or just influenced by emotion, imitation, or false doctrine.
So, how do we really know if someone is speaking in tongues the way God intended? It starts with the foundation: Are they being taught by someone who has the authority and full knowledge of the teachings of Christ? Are they part of a spiritual community that seeks the truth and lives it out completely not just partially or based on human traditions?
Speaking in tongues, when real, is a beautiful and powerful gift. But like everything that comes from God, it should come with clarity, purpose, and alignment with His will not confusion or performance. The message is clear: seek what’s genuine. Because only what is real whether it's baptism, speaking in tongues, or any spiritual act will count before God.
