Embrace the Complexities: Human psychology, personality trait and human behavior.

When you are told that it's raining outside, what would be your first instinct? Is it to go out with an umbrella or to first fact-check what you heard and be sure that it's truly raining outside?

Let's assume you chose to check the fact first before getting any umbrella, does it mean that you don't trust the person that gave you the info? Or, is it that you don't take people's word for it until you see things for yourself?

And, if you heard that it was raining and went straight to grab an umbrella without any attempt to verify the facts, what does that make you? Someone that is very agreeable or someone that can be easily deceived?

Lemme tell you something;

I've been trying to think of the best possible interpretation for each of these reactions and also to understand why people are so similar as humans, but still very different in personality and behavior.

Basically, (with the highlighted scenario in mind), I try to understand the difference between someone that would choose to first verify if it's raining outside and someone that will take up an umbrella even without verifying if it's truly raining.

The conclusion I reached about this is that human beings are made up of a lot of unfathomable traits.

The level of complexities embodied in each of us is so vague to the point that any attempt to generalize anything about humans usually ends up with so many contradictions.

Here is a good example;

You would imagine that giving a cashier in a shopping mall a monetary tip would make the person happy, excited and grateful. Right?

Wait till you meet that one cashier that will find it insulting that you are giving him/her a tip.

I'm not even kidding.

What of the scenario where you do good and get good in return? You can easily assume that you will always be treated nicely just because you treat others nicely.

That's something that should be a modus in a time of sanity, but I'm very sure there will always be someone that will twist your good and pay you back with bad.

These are not the strongest examples to use and explain how complex human beings and our personalities are, but it successfully shows how hard it is to draw a genuine generalization about people's behavior.

My point in this post is that in as much as it's good to try and understand people and why they act the way they do, sometimes, you just have to accept that as far as you are dealing with humans, it's almost impossible to completely understand their complexities.

I mean, are you even sure you know everything about your mind, your personality and why you act or react the way you do? Think about it.

It may look like I've focused more on a negative view of the complexities we have as humans, but make no mistake about this. For someone like myself, the complexities we have as humans is one of the things that makes life adventurous.
