Sogamoso es un municipio colombiano situado en el centro-oriente del departamento de Boyacá en la región del Alto Chicamocha. Es la capital de la Provincia de Sugamuxi, se encuentra a 228,5 km al noreste de Bogotá, la capital del país, y a 75,8 km de Tunja, la capital del departamento. Posee una altitud de 2.569 m, tiene temperaturas promedio de 17 °C.6 La base económica de la ciudad es el comercio interregional entre los Llanos Orientales y el centro del país; la industria siderúrgica y de materiales de construcción; y la explotación de calizas, carbón y mármol.7 Es uno de los municipios con mayor calidad de vida en Colombia y es categorizado por el DNP como un municipio con un entorno de desarrollo robusto.8 Se le conoce como la Ciudad del Sol y del Acero.
El origen mítico de Sogamoso se remonta en la cosmogonía chibcha a la creación del Sol: en el valle de Iraca (Suamox).9 Sogamoso fue un centro religioso de la comunidad Muisca. Vestigios de la cual se encuentran en la necrópolis del Templo del Sol

Sogamoso is a Colombian municipality located in the center-east of the department of Boyacá in the Alto Chicamocha region. It is the capital of the Province of Sugamuxi, 228.5 km northeast of Bogotá, the capital of the country, and 75.8 km from Tunja, the capital of the department. It has an altitude of 2,569 m and average temperatures of 17 °C.6 The city's economic base is interregional trade between the Eastern Plains and the center of the country; the steel and construction materials industry; and the exploitation of limestone, coal and marble.7 It is one of the municipalities with the highest quality of life in Colombia and is categorized by the DNP as a municipality with a robust development environment.8 It is known as ***the City of Sun and Steel.
The mythical origin of Sogamoso goes back in the Chibcha cosmogony to the creation of the Sun: in the valley of Iraca (Suamox).9 Sogamoso was a religious center of the Muisca community. Vestiges of which are found in the necropolis of the Temple of the Sun.
Plaza parque la Villa
Según reseña de Gabriel Camargo Pérez la manigua referencia de la plaza se menciona hacia el año 1601 donde se repartieron los cuatro costados de la plaza y designo el lote para la cárcel donde posteriormente se construyera el palacio del corregidor (hoy palacio Municipal). Como descripción física cabe incluir al monumento al Sol y **La Fuente a los héroes de la Ramada **como elementos que hacen parte integral de la plaza, una de las deficiencias que encontramos es la falta de relación entre la plaza y sus costados. En la parte central está el monumento a la Raza y hacia el oriente se encuentra la Catedral San Martín de Tours; esta Plaza también es utilizada para eventos del Municipio.
La Villa park square
