Book Review: You Better Be Lightning
For a while now, I have been interested in reading more types of books and not just the usual fictional or self care which I am used to reading, but I haven’t seen any that interested me.
Anyways, a few days ago, I had some time on my hand and I decided to surf the internet in search of something else and I came across a poetry book of some sort and decided to read it.
I spent a few days reading it and I decided that it was worthy of a review so, today I am bringing you its review, so without further ado, let’s get into it.

FIRST LOOK
My first look at this book immediately interested me to it if I am being honest; the name, the cover and everything just made me levitate to it which I can’t even explain.
The name initially made me feel like it was a fictional book but, I got to quickly realize that it wasn’t after the introduction and the first chapter.
The cover art was also something very spectacular and I feel like whoever chose it did a great work because it will draw a lot of people in.
PREMISE
You better be lightning is a book that has a focus on queer, feminist and political issues, it is a book that has poetry of deep reflections and it is so diverse that it travels from love to hate, sickness and so much more.
MY THOUGHTS
This book was beautiful to me and as someone who doesn’t frequently read poetry, I still found it really exceptional, it was raw and the collection was powerful all together.
Also, it taught me a bit about being queer which was needed because as a Nigerian, topics like this are a taboo so, I loved reading about it.
The author of this book is clearly talented because I really have nothing bad to say about it and if you read my reviews, that is something that never happens.
RATINGS
I will be giving this a 9, maybe it’s because I haven’t read a lot of poetry books or maybe it is because I am biased but this book of literal art deserves it.
IN CONCLUSION
I have no words to say except “READ THE BOOK” especially if you love poetry or if you are trying to get into it.

I'm one to read banned books, books that question my ideologies, etc. When I saw it was a book about queer, etc. I was like "yaaasss queen"

It's the cover of this one that captures attention; how wonderful that it was poetry. I love a good poetry text; ever put yourself in a position where you read out loud, with no one else around? I can't help but think poetry needs to be spoken. A beautiful book!

“You better be lighting” has a deeper sense of meaning when it comes to life but like what you have said that this book focuses on political issues and feminist view that travels on love, hatred, and sickness issues. I guess this is really so worthy to read. Have a wonderful time sis and keep safe always.
