LEARNING HOW TO PLAY CHESS
I was gifted a chessboard a few months ago by a friend and even though I appreciated the gift there was one major problem; I couldn’t play chess.
Due to that factor, the chessboard simply sat at one corner of my house and would sometimes be played by my nephews when they visited while I watched but I still didn’t learn how to play until a few days back.
My chess learning journey started when I had a conversation with @wildthougts and he threw some shade about him getting me over the board and in my competitive head, I wanted to be a challenge to him at least a bit if he ever got me on the board.
The day after that conversation, I was determined to learn so I asked my brother and nephew to teach me the basics of chess at least.
The lesson started with them teaching me how to place the pieces on the board which I already knew but it was still good to learn and then they continued by teaching me certain movements that can be made by each individual chess piece.
At this point, I was a bit confused but after seeing them play, I quickly picked up and went from theory into practice.
My first match was tragic as I had pretty much no tactics and just went with the flow but after that, I got better even though I didn’t win.
At the end of the day, I feel like I have learned a lot and maybe in a few months, I would be able to take @wildthougts on.
As a lover of board games, I have always wanted to learn chess but didn’t so I am grateful that I was motivated to finally learn just in time for Ragnarok.

It's always fun learning something New. I was once addicted to playing chess, but then with time I lost passion for it. Seeing a community for chess lovers might make me go back to playing Chess.
Yeah it was very fun learning, right now chess isn't my thing yet but maybe soon.
Oh, this is the most addictive game. However, you need to study Chess theory if you really want to win - it’s all a matter of taking the advantage when you “see” a certain setup. It’s fun if you follow this advice because not many people study the game. I was married to a serious Chess player, so I made myself learn, else he would’ve beat my hide (not literally, of course) every day. Haha

I remembered I played this when I was in secondary school and it´s been so long that I have forgotten how to play it. Chess game is interesting too. @dreemport brought me here.
You should try to play it again, who knows you might still remember.

You are already a step ahead of me. I can't play chess either and still not learning. I play Monopoly and some others but don't know why I am not freaked about chess. Glad you could learn, hoping to hear that in a competition with your friend, you won. Yaaay. I will be here to cheer 😂
I play monopoly and the rest too, chess is the only one I haven't learned, I am not also a fan but no knowledge is wasted and I really want to win him so fingers crossed.

Chess isn't actually something you can perfect in a day. There are so many things involved. Should I say am a slow learner? I have tried learning this for sometime now but I am still not perfect in it. I still get my ass kicked.

Learning the theory won't be a bad idea
It will be complicated to learn through a post, it takes more tactics and all but you can find books specifically on it if you want to learn.
