Minimalism, Confidence, and Much More

avatar

When people hear about minimalism, their minds immediately go to someone who has to live with little or no belongings; I won’t lie, I also thought this way before I became a minimalist but, minimalism is so much more than that and it comes with so much benefits.

While minimalism still relates to living a simplistic lifestyle, it transits past just the physical ideologies into the psychology and even our mindset.

For me, being a minimalist has been an eye opening decision that has brought growth and clarity in so many areas but, for today I’ll focus on a few.

MINIMALISM, SELF-CONFIDENCE, AND SELF ESTEEM

Being a minimalist helped my confidence and self-esteem in a way that I couldn’t understand, like I said previously, I grew up practically poor and it made me place my values on belongings, trends, and what was told to me.

For the longest time, I didn’t know who I was and I would simply do what others were doing because that was supposed to make me whole but, it wasn’t until I became a minimalist that I realized that life was way more than those.

Becoming a minimalist brought me confidence and it taught me that it didn’t matter what I had but who I was.

Now, I don't care about trends or what others are doing because I know that my worth isn't in my belonging or a new shoe.

MINIMALISM AND SELF-AWARENESS

With minimalism came a realization that I didn't need a lot of things I had and it also made me more intentional with the things I was buying.

This meant I went for quality over trends most times and I also invested in pieces that would last for years.

Doing this made a whole lot of difference because I start noticing the difference between brands, needs, and wants, etc.

MINIMALISM AND FINANCES

When I became a minimalist, I realized that I didn't spend as much money as I used to, as someone who was a heavy spender and would buy loads of clothing, products, etc, minimalism helped me curb that and now I only buy things that are essential to me.

MINIMALISM AND MAINTENANCE

Another thing that improved after I became a minimalist was my ability to care for my belongings and also, utilize what I had to the smallest point.

Before I use to be very wasteful and careless because I had multiples of certain things, but now that I live more simplistic, it urges me to be more maintaining to what I have.

IN CONCLUSIONS

Minimalism might not be the solution to everything that is going on but I can tell you that it helps in so many areas, even those that you don't realize.

I am glad that I am on this path because, it is not just about simplistic living but also, a simplistic mindset.

This is my entry to the #KISS for this week and I will be inviting @young-boss-karin to participate.

Is so great to hear your journey with minimalism.

Becoming a minimalist brought me confidence and it taught me that it didn’t matter what I had but who I was.

Excellent! I feel like there is wisdom in that.

Now, I don't care about trends or what others are doing because I know that my worth isn't in my belonging or a new shoe.

So true. That must be very liberating to feel that way as well.

Hello @khaleesii
I'm always happy to hear how minimalism makes a person more rounded and grounded, which is what you have portrayed in this post. I'm happy you decided to share this with us:)))

Invite accepted.

I thought minimalism meant living below your means just to look poor. I only just realised it meant living a simple life, rather than a poor one.

😆 Yeah that is the misconception but it isn't about being poor, it is about choosing to live simple.

Yeah, I live a pretty simple life but I'm in no way a minimalist. I am not wasteful though. I try to use things I have before buying something and I try to find people who can use things I can't before scrapping something. It's a far cry from how I used to be.
