My First Gospel Concert
This year I promised myself that I would be open to going out more but, since I made that promise, I haven’t had as much opportunity to, maybe it was because most of my friends who invited me out usually got a negative response and they decided to stop.
Anyways, for a while now, I had been looking forward to going out and a few weeks back, a friend of my mine invited me to a concert, at first thought, I felt like it was the usual concert and I already started preparing for it but, a few days to the concert, she made it clear to me that it was a “gospel concert”.
Now, even though I am Christian, I am mindful of the churches I attend, and since this concert was hosted by a church, I was iffy about it and told her that I wouldn't make it but, she assured me that it was going to be worth it, so I decided to try it.
On the day of the concert, I inquired from her about what I could wear and she made it clear that her church didn't have a dress code and this made me feel better because most churches in Nigeria frown against trousers, among other things and that is what I feel comfortable wearing.
The concert was supposed to start at 4:30 but, as an early bird, we were there at 4:10, and this was mostly because I prefer going to places early to avoid hassles.
When we got there, there wasn't really any special requirements and all we had to do was go in and sit at a spot we felt comfortable, and while we waited, music was being played; I guess to give the atmosphere some presence or something.
After waiting for a few minutes, the concert started with worship and it was the best I have had in a while, it made me feel so high spiritually and I loved it.
When the worship was done, the choir came out and sang some songs, did an outfit change and sang again and, they also had some guest ministers sing.
The choir was superb and every song they sang that I knew felt like it was the original artist singing it; you just needed to be there.
I couldn't even take much pictures because I was overwhelmed by the atmosphere and I felt so in tune with my maker.
The concert ended by 9 with praise and dancing and even when it did, I was angry because I didn't feel like it was enough and I could have stayed all night.
I truly am glad that I was open enough to go and I can't wait to attend another gospel concert preferably hosted by them.
