Rivals or Brothers?

Jacob and his brother Israel had always been rivals from the day they were born, from the moment they came out of their mother’s womb, it was a competition for who cried the loudest, who walked the fastest, and who was the best in everything.

Most people thought it was normal when they were toddlers because as twins it was usual for them to want the same things but as time went on, their rivalry turned into a hunger for the same things which became insufferable and started causing problems.

Whenever Jacob wanted something, Israel also needed that same thing to prove a point and this became a source of worry to their parents; they often wondered what would happen if one got something and the other couldn't.

Anyways, because of their rivalry, Jacob and Isreal thrived in everything they did, their hunger to be better than each other made them give everything their all, and this made them stand out in school bringing them scholarships and fame.

Standing out in school meant every young girl wanted them but, both boys weren't interested in girls, well at least they weren't until they met Allison.

Allison was a blonde hair caramel skinned girl who played the violin and she got to meet the two brothers on different nights; Jacob at a concert and Isreal at a library.

When she met the two of them she made an impact because of how kind she was, but it wasn't until the brothers knew they both met her that their interest grew, for them, both of them meeting her and liking her meant that they had a new pawn to fight for and winning her heart meant one was superior.

Now, usually their rivalries didn’t have rules but, they wanted this one to be different so they had a set of rules; 1. They had until their birthday in a year to win her heart and 2. Whoever she agrees to date by then wins, the rules felt simple enough and they started their competition.

After the rules were set, both brothers started trying to get close to Alison but whatever they tried failed; when they got her gifts, she would give them out and when they invited her to parties, she would decline

Her actions made the brothers falls deeply for her because they felt like she was different, and their rivalry moved from wanting to be superior to trying to get the girl.

They continued trying to get Alison, and in the process, their relationship grew sour, they began scheming to hurt each other because it felt like the easiest way to get her and while they did that, they made each other lose everything including their scholarships.

Months passed and on the day of their birthday which their parents forced them to celebrate together, Alison show up and this made them have hope that one of them might get her, but she came with a girl which she introduced to them as her partner.

At that moment, the brothers realized how stupid they had been and they promised each other that instead of being rivals, they would be brothers.

Lol.

All this while, Alison was gay, but they were overwhelmed by their hunger to get her and didn't see clearly.

I enjoyed reading. Thanks for sharing, babe.

Yeah, she was but the rivalry blinded them.

What a great ending. You manage to teach a lesson without preaching. Writers have trouble with that, but you do it well. The twins certainly have a conflict. They certainly long (hunger) for something. But in the end, the shortsightedness of their quest becomes obvious. Neither one was ever going to 'win', because Alison was never going to be interested. Her attraction was elsewhere :)

Thank you for sharing this story with us Khaleesii. We enjoy your writing.

Ahhhh lisby matter? 😂😂😂
The stupidity is of the highest order... All that struggles went for waste.

Thank goodness they didn't kill each other, it would have been so painful.

Nice use of the prompt word, I enjoyed the story

Hehe, you have done it again! That is very good of you. Anything we called love should be from both sides. If one is in love but the other didn't have feelings, it going to be disappointing on the part of the person who is in love. @khaleesii you have composed this article in an understanding way. Well done Job!

I'm glad they were taught a valuable lesson! Atlas after being at each other's neck, they didn't even get the girl!

Must have been quite a shock to the brothers. Their pointless fights over unnecessary things finally came to an end, I hope they bond stronger than ever.
