This week was a different one for me, the theme is national pride and if I am being honest, I don't have that.

For the longest time, being Nigerian was a pride to me, let's say I grew up naive and hopeful but recently, reality hit and I feel like there is no reason to be proud of my country.

A few days ago I had to move out of my home because it was affected by the flood, a flood that could have been avoided if my country did some things differently.

I have a constant fear for my security, we hear bad news every day, and much more so I don't see why I should be “proud”.

My goal was to avoid this theme and wait for the next one but I decided to participate when I saw @mayorkeys post and sing the national anthem, because well, that's the best I could do.

I hope one day I can have that pride again, I hope one day, I can do this again with the esteem of my country but, for now, I hope you enjoy my rendition of the national anthem.

GENRE: MARCHES/HYMN
LYRICS: NIGERIAN ANTHEM COMPOSED BY MR. BEN ODIASE
  1. Arise, O compatriots, Nigeria's call obey
    To serve our fatherland
With love and strength and faith
The labour of our heroes past
    Shall never be in vain
To serve with heart and might
One nation bound in freedom, peace and unity.
  2. Oh God of creation, direct our noble cause
    Guide our leader’s right
Help our youth the truth to know
In love and honesty to grow
    And living just and true
    Great lofty heights attain
To build a nation where peace and justice shall reign.

We regret the suffering you endured as a result of the flood and the ongoing anxiety brought on by security. We wish Nigeria well and for her to restore her position as the pride of Africa.

Hey @khaleesii

I am also sorry for what happened, that you had to move from your home because of the flood, but still, you can be proud of your nation, I am sure. I am glad you participated in the weekly contest and @mayorkeys inspired you actually to do that. How nice is that!

I'm so sorry to hear about the flood issue. It's a pity that this is our situation at the moment. Oh well, we pray for better days, right?

Finally, somebody coming up here to sing our anthem, lol😁❤️. Can't even remember when last I sang that 🤔. Beautiful voice though.
