RISK AND ADVANTAGE OF REARING BROILER CHICKENS

Rearing broiler chickens is the most difficult and tasking thing to do reason been that they are very delicate and requires a lot of attention in the sense that you have to be checking up on them if the water they are drinking is not hot and if the chicken coops is not hot as well.

The advantage of rearing broiler is that once they are big enough for sale, they are being sold at a very high price if fed well. With that, it can be sold when they are 2 months old.

In other to reduce the heat in the coop, I had to pour some sawdust on the floor just to normalize the temperature and also to absorb the smell of the chicken droppings from entering into the house.

For this reason, I usually sweep the chicken coops everyday so as to change the sawdust.

Each time I noticed that the weather is hot I will dip the chickens inside cold water so as to normalize their body temperature.
Due to the weather condition in Abuja Nigeria presently, the heat is not favourable which has lead to the death of some chickens.

Part of the precautions I take when entering the chickens coops is that I don't wear random shoe into the coop I have a particular shoe I usually wear whenever I want to enter the chickens coops so as to prevent diseases from entering into their feed or water cause the chicken are very fragile and are not resistant to diseases.

That is the reason why you have to administer their vaccines (lasota and gumboro) correctly so as to make them fight against the diseases.
