My Translation Of Rooftop Garden (Khmer Book)
I want to share and translate so you can understand. It is Rooftop Garden. My translation might not be good so please don't mind it.
Rooftop Garden
One Sunday Tita goes to play at a park where her dad works. When she came home she plants a bunch of sunflowers on the roof.
After one week the sunflowers died. Tita is sad. She wants her flowers to bloom every time. Tita had an idea about making a garden on the roof.
That Saturday she asks her dad to make a garden. He takes some seed and soil. Tita asks "How do we plant it, dad?" Her dad smile "how about we plant it together!".
They start to dig in the dirt and take away the grass. Suddenly she shouted "earthworms, earthworms!" Her dad told her "earthworms are good for the plants". She nodded but she is scared but she keeps going.
They continue planting. Then Tita pours the whole water into the plant "drink a lot of water plant and you have to grow fast!" Her dad told her "they need water but this is not how to water the plant".
Tita do as her dad told her but she didn't see any plant grow. Her mom put her hand on Tita gently "they need time to grow so you have to be patient".
One week later little plants grow and it is time to put them in their own pot. Her mom takes them out gently, Tita takes them quick and hard. Her mom told her "no you have to take them out gently or the plants will not grow". Tita was surprised. Lucky two plants were already taken out by her mom.
They put the plants in two different pots. Her dad took a piece of wood to make pots.
Tita knows how to take care of plants very well. The stems and leaves begin to grow. The flowers bloom.
She cut off some flowers. She saw some vegetables on the table and ask her mom "mom can those plants grow?" her mom told her "yes". Then they take them and plant them.
Tita continue to plant more plants her dad took some plants from where he works.
After many months her garden has a beautiful view. The garden has butterflies and dragonflies coming to visit. The garden that has the neighbors say good and ask some advice. The garden that Tita's family enjoys is the flowers and pick vegetables.
