Bad Network (Short Story)

After running into a double post issue, I decided, while it's here and I can't get rid of it; I would write a little story about something bad that went on today.

The reason for this problem is unknown to me, but I can work through the details here in this short story since I can't delete it from my feed, and I don't want my main page to look messy with dead posts.

I sat at my computer, furiously typing - you should have seen it. I was like a musician based on the synchronised beats of the keyboard and the repetitive drumming of my fingers as I finalised the draft of my story. - Every full stop was pounded and another flurry of strokes would come in strong. I swear, if I hit any harder keys would ping and fly from the shattered silicone and I would most likely be powering down some Hive to rush out and buy a new lappy.

The story was solid, a clear 7/10; I don't think it was the best piece of work I'd ever created, but it was solid; above average, at the very least.

'Publish' was highlighted in the lower right-hand corner of the screen and I hovered the cursor over it, remembering fondly the early days of being here; how I would stare at that button for so long, almost wincing and closing my eyes before I could click it.

Those days have passed, and while I still maintain my multiple re-reads and corrections before hitting it, I'm a lot more confident in my work when it comes to publishing.

Click the wheel spun - a little longer than it usually did, and I waited patiently for it to do something, but, no. Nothing was happening, then after a minute, a "Network error message" appeared.

Weird. I thought. Must be an issue with the internet.

It was available to click once more. CLICK!

Again, the same thing happened, same error message and all.

Okay, don't panic, I can fix this, I'll save it as a draft and upload it later.

Clicks Save Draft Again, the same thing happens, and I start to panic because I don't want to lose this
"masterpiece" of mine.

I click publish again and the same thing happens. At this point, I'm fresh out of ideas, and I go downstairs for a breather, not before hitting publish once more; so it can do its thing while I'm away.

While there, my phone starts pinging. It's Ecency, telling me that some people have liked my post. "Cool, so that last time worked."

I flick through and see, nope, it worked a few times. The same post 3 times to be exact. I was a bit annoyed because I thought I was going to be done for spamming the network or something.

So, I race back upstairs, get on and manage to delete one of them, now I'm left with two of the same post.

After deleting the most recent one of content, and leaving a message to ignore it. I looked at my page and it seemed pretty ugly with that blank post, so I threw a picture on it, to at least make it look nice. But, without any content, it still looked ugly.

The best and only option I had was to write a little story about this ordeal to explain it. Mainly, because it's written into Scholar and Scribe, and since they're all about stories, here we are.

The moral of the story is, when life throws you a curve ball, pick it up and throw it back.
