WEEKEND AT THE THEATER

"Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.”
_______Robert Collier_______

It's been a busy week for me so far, I have been meaning to share my last two weekend experiences but I didn't get to due to my busy schedule I'm really excited I can share it on today's blog.

I can't say I am consistent in a lot of things, as a matter of fact, I suck at doing things repeatedly, and as a result, I always got stuck in the mud or end up having so many unfinished projects. I think the first time I finished a project was back in 2015 when I finished my driving lessons, I almost gave up at a point because I was often occupied with a lot of things. (I have a bad habit of taking more than what I can handle) But it turned out I strived to finish the driving course but I never got my certificate of completion because I got admission to study computer engineering that year.

In my short life so far, I've discovered I always had good excuses for not finishing most of my life projects rendering me inconsistent with them. Not that I'm proud of it, and Just like any human I try to work on my flaws and be better. I knew at a point that I needed to start finishing more of the projects I take on, so I decided will take them one step at a time. I Started by dropping a lot of minor projects that took my time and added so little to my life things like; volunteering to work without pay for people who would not appreciate the effort, I also stopped going to visit friends frequently because I thought they needed help and I needed to be there for them. I figured if they needed my help, they would ask. I noticed anytime I volunteered to work for free for people who don't appreciate or visit these friends of mine in the name of being caring, I would end up spending the entire day with them and lagging on more important projects. At one point, some even saw me as a bug, and others saw me as one who was jobless. I discovered man these guys would survive without you, so I decided that I would only do the important stuff and the last two weekends it paid off.

I knew I could tell stories, so I thought of doing something useful with my stories by volunteering to work with a free theater group (ROYAL THEATER)as a scriptwriter to brush up my writing skills also. It was going well, I was now continually writing scripts but then again I began to learn real-stage performance, I was also learning how to write to the soul so it will be easier for an actor to easily get into character.

And I must admit being consistent is hard, it's not easy to repeatedly do one thing over and over again even if it's something you love, it gets tiring at a point and for me, I just get fed up with it and stop. But this time I told myself I was going to move past the whole feeling of tiredness and become consistent In something by choice, and I did. After some time I noticed when you do something often even when you hate it, you tend to love it again, and you cliff to it when you get a positive result from it, more so, you become better at it and see new ways to improve if only you can stay with it. This I guess was what my director saw In me and picked me up for a role. Not that I haven't acted before but that acting a role as delegate and challenging as that would require one who can understand the mind of the scriptwriter.

I didn't write that part of the play, but I was able to easily flow into character. As you can see from the picture I acted the role of an old adviser to the king In an African play, it was funny for me, I can remember almost busting into laughter on stage but there was something about the role that made me stay in character throughout the play and that was consistency. What surprised me the most was that up until yesterday the only thing people remember about the play was " the cute old man (that was what they all called me) And if there is one thing I'm sure of, my act that day would never have been possible if I got bored and stopped.

This brings me back to Robert Collier's quote
"Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.”
I look forward to more exciting experiences.
