I Miss My Baby (Sewing Machine).

You know this feeling of knowing you can do something. You have the willingness to do it. And you can give it that satisfying feel. But you don't have your tools with you.

That was the way I felt yesterday.

Considering the present economic situation of my pocket and bank balance. I can't afford to change my wardrobe at the moment. So yesterday I needed to amend some of my old shirts. They were gradually getting worn at the elbow. They were long sleeve shirts so I needed to cut it off at the elbow turning them to shorts Leeves.

As a student I had left my sewing machine back at home. I couldn't carry it back to school. I tried calling some of my friends here in school that I do go to sew at their place but they weren't around. I had no option than to seek the services of Obioma tailors. I called one, hoping and praying he'll do a nice job for me after directing him on what to do.

Well, to make the long story short I ended up doing the job myself. I couldn't help it as I watched this Obioma tailor rip the sleeves apart without even using scissors. I couldn't watch as he handled my poor clothes without love and affection. Yes they're inanimate objects. But I believe fabrics should be handled with love, care and affection. But no, Obioma tailor didn't have such pity on my poor fabric.

That particular incident made me miss my baby (sewing machine) the more. I thought about the good times I had with my sewing machine. The nice and neat jobs I've been able to deliver with it.

The beautiful fabrics that have been oppurtuned to feel the tingling stabs of it's needle.

The joining in sewing matrimony of two beautiful fabrics by the combined effort of my baby and I.

The times my baby will fall sick (spoil) and I'll have to take her the doctor (mechanic) for treatment.

To my baby I miss you and I know you miss me too. Till that day when I'm done with school and we meet to part no more.

Love you.

P.S

  • I don't have the full picture of my sewing machine hence the first picture give a little glimpse of it.
  • All pictures taken and edited by me
  • Obioma tailors is a name given to local tailors in my country that goes about with portable sewing machines on their head. They only amend clothes.*

It is never easy to watch someone treat your things roughly, especially when you would do it differently.
