Maria was a skilled seamstress and spent her days sewing beautiful dresses for the village women.
One day, a wealthy merchant named Pedro came to the village seeking a dressmaker to create a stunning gown for his daughter's upcoming wedding. He had heard of Maria's talent and sought her out. Maria was thrilled to be chosen for the task and worked diligently to create the most beautiful dress she had ever made.
When the dress was complete, Pedro came to collect it and was astounded by the exquisite craftsmanship. He was so impressed that he offered Maria a job as his personal dressmaker. He promised her a salary far greater than anything she could make in the village and the opportunity to work on dresses for the wealthiest women in the land.
Maria was hesitant at first. She loved her simple life in the village and wasn't sure if she wanted to leave it all behind. But Pedro was very persuasive, and after much deliberation, Maria decided to take the job.
At first, everything was wonderful. Pedro treated Maria with kindness and respect, and she worked tirelessly to create stunning gowns for his clients. But over time, Pedro's true nature began to reveal itself. He became more demanding and controlling, often berating Maria for the slightest mistake. He would withhold her pay if he felt that she hadn't met his expectations, even if the mistake was his fault.
