Becoming a Doctor

Greetings People!

Becoming a doctor was my childhood dream job. My intention wasn't to save lives; I just wanted the name, money, and lifestyle. The title suits my name so much[ Dr. Kingsley ], and I imagined how it'd be so sweet to be called that on a certified basis.
The dressing and the respect accorded to doctors are so massive. At the mention of the name Doctor, illiteracy will flee because these people are seen as intelligent people. Or have you seen a dull doctor? I haven't seen any.

Although these people are not paid as they ought to, but the money that enters their Account is reasonable.

I just wanted all these, and you know what? Having a certified doctor in a family makes the family highly recognised in the community.

Knowing all these, I made up my mind to work towards becoming a doctor from my primary school stage. I wasn't a dullard; in fact, I occupied the third position in the class from primary 4 to 6.
I graduated and got promoted to Secondary school (high school), and the same pace was still intact. I did excellently well all through the first phase (Jss1 to Jss3).
When we were promoted to senior class, we had the option of choosing either science or art, and just like I wanted, I chose science class, and my dream of becoming a doctor continued.

Everything turned sour when we got to the second term in SS1; there was no chemistry teacher, and chemistry is one of the most required courses to excel in medicine.

The school management did their best to provide a chemistry teacher, but nothing worked. We would get a teacher today, while the teacher would stop the next day.
We were very concerned about this issue, so we kept pressing the school management, but no way.

That's how we graduated from high school without a good knowledge of chemistry. Even now, there are some equations I can't balance😭.
Meanwhile, we were deeply rooted in other subjects, especially biology, physics, and Mathematics.

How did we pass the final exam since we knew nothing about chemistry?
We cheated. Yes, the school had to organise the cheating process to help us get through.

After Secondary school with poor knowledge in chemistry, should I still continue with my ambition of being a doctor?

This was the point at which I had to step down. Higher institution is tough, and it's going to be hell for me to choose to study chemistry-related courses. So I diverted and went for engineering (physics), and I got admitted with ease.

Honestly, I would have pursued that dream job to the very end if I wasn't scared of the hurdles ahead because my parents didn't know anything about it; they were just ready to sponsor any ambition their children decide to pursue.

The thought of facing the bigger version of hydrocarbon magic I saw in Secondary school really got me scared. Imagine all the Alkanes with too many 'HHHH', 'OOO' and zigzag arrows.

Although I have friends( Mostly female.... @humbe 🧐) who see chemistry as easy peasy and I always throw accolades at them. But hey! Mathematics and physics are just like soaking garri with me, too.

That's my story!

From wanting to become a doctor to being an Engineer. Interesting!

And, I'm with you on that Chemistry part. I'd rather study Physics.

I wanted to chip in something extra but today is Monday. Maybe tomorrow.😒

You should be chopping chemistry by now if you've been paying attention in class. Lol😂.

Let's keep it light cos it's Monday 😄

Thank God you didn't succeed in becoming a doctor, I believe health work is vocation, you must have great ambition and willingness to save life before going into it. Engr Kingsley fit you better

It's the Engr for me🙈😄

So you mean, all the doctors we have today have passion for it and they're not there for money? Lol😄

I don't like chemistry o but you see that organic chemistry with all the alkanes and alkyl, I love it, but it becomes a problem when we go higher, especially like the ones I saw in the university 😅. Many of us wanted to be a doctor when we were kids but this country has a way of helping you change your dream job by force

Wait!
You don't like chemistry but you love Organic chemistry? Isn't that " I don't eat goat meat but I love soup cooked with it?"lol😂.
I found that part of chemistry most confusing 😭

Hey Kingsley, I'll pretend this part is one of your sketches for an open-mic comedy because you didn't hear all this from me!😅 Whooo! That thing gave me a hard time, especially with derivatives in Physical Chemistry, which I know you would've enjoyed the most since you like Physics and Maths.🧐

A career in engineering was a good decision over medicine for you, and you're still young enough to pursue a PhD in engineering and have the best of both worlds - Dr Kingsley and carry the inventive status associated with engineering. hmmm! 🤔

I was feeling myself while reading this
I Love You Hearts GIF by Henque

which I know you would've enjoyed the most since you like Physics and Maths.🧐

At a time, I was comprehending but whenever they mention number of moles and molecules... that I have to cram the figure figure. I just gave up
