Brain work, then & now

As much as we try to look at it in a clean way, the world has gotten to a point where people mock those who refuse to keep up with the fast pace of technology. People who still use analogue systems to do things that are now easily handled by technology are often seen as unserious. Meanwhile, these same people working the analogue way are the ones with deeper knowledge of what they are doing.

Just talking nonsense, right? Lol🥱

During the period when we were to go for I.T in my school, I will not lie, I wanted to go to places where things were simple and where I.T students were paid. but I didn't see, so I settled for less, a place where things were done with hands instead of the computers. It was an architectural firm and the firm used the hand drawing methods, not the computers.

We created floor plans in such a way that we could already visualize the house being built while drawing. The side views of the structures came naturally because we had already mentally constructed them from the floor plans.

Although the days of manual architectural drawings are almost extinct, the level of mental effort and creativity we developed during that time cannot be overstated. Compare that to today, where people simply pick doors, windows, arches, and other elements from preloaded collections in Apps.

So the truth is, the computer age has made us somewhat mentally lazy and continues to do so, especially when compared to the days when we relied heavily on our brains to get work done.

No lies, in this computer age, the stress is reduced compared to the days of excessive physical work, but hey, when it comes to brain work, we are lagging behind.

Back in the days when we learnt colouring in secondary schools, we mastered and practicalised colours. I mean, which primary and secondary colours to mix to get some particular colours. These days, I doubt people think again. Just a click and a colour is generated already. Magic!

So, is this quick access to things harmful to society at large?

No!

Why?

It's the era we are and it's expected to be like this. It is going to grow stronger in years to come.
The people who refuse to tag along with the technology will still be seen as unserious.
Works will continue to be easier and our brains more dull for total dependence on technology.
And yet, the society will keep moving moving without it looking like something important is being dropped off. We can only point at those things, lament a little but at the end, nothing will be done, just as we have the situation where phones have taken our places for physical bonding with people and nothing can be done about it.
In fact, the system will keep encouraging people to get on with the use of technology because it's the easiest way of life.

Thanks for reading.

it is very valuable that you learned to draw plans by hand, that ability to visualize the house while drawing is something software doesnt always teach you
