The labour market today and the future

The direction in which the world is moving really needs to be checked. A lot of people have seen and felt the effect, especially with the current pattern of the labour market, but nothing can be done because everything has already taken a new step... physical employment is dwindling. I strongly believe that a time will come in the future when this current stress-free work-from-home pattern will be pushed away and we will return to the real working pattern we all know. The craziest thing about this pattern of work is that everyone is trying to adopt the pattern of the developed world, where things and their systems are working very well.

Take, for example, if you go to the street today, go to mechanic workshops, and you'll hardly see a good number of apprentices there. Go to the carpenter workshops, and the same thing is applicable. Even the tailoring workshops, where there used to be swarms of ladies as students, you can barely see a good number of them. This is because people are losing interest in practical work. Everyone wants to go digital, where they can control things and work from their homes instead of being employed to work practically in workshops or offices. While the idea of controlling things from the comfort of the house is appealing, it's surely going to tell on the future of our labour market, especially in countries and continents that are still struggling to become developed.

I have a salon close to my office, and it's a big salon. They've been looking for a receptionist to hire for about four months, and the owner has given up. The last lady that worked there, although she complained about how her boss was always shouting at her, decided to stop working there. She said she's looking for a job that's more "soft", maybe something like working from home. Unfortunately for her, she hasn't been employed till today. Her boyfriend is "well-to-do" and spoils her with money, hence she's been staying at home all through.

Now, what could be the reason people don't want to get employed there? It may appear as though people do not want to work with a boss that "shouts" a lot, but that's not actually it. People are looking for better and more "soft" work where they can work comfortably. Meanwhile, the pay for the receptionist job is manageably fine, but people just don't want to work. The owner of the salon has given up in her search for staff.

A time will come in the future when we'll be forced to go back to our traditional and practical way of working. There will be very limited craftsmanship because people have switched to working through codes and letters on the internet instead of using their nails, irons, woods, and many others. By then, people will be pushed by their needs and demands to go back and earn a living.
