Environmental Barriers and Smart City Systems

avatar

Smart urbanization planning makes it possible to avoid causing harm to people, other living beings, or the environment, while also allowing for the integration of rapidly advancing technologies with their natural settings.

The overwhelming volume of motor traffic on the city's streets puts residents of the city in constant danger of being exposed to both air and noise pollution. People are put in danger by automobile traffic not just when they are walking by the side of the road or driving a car, but also when they are at home or at work near the roadway.

This is because the noise and air pollution from the traffic can seep into their homes and places of employment. Sleep problems, cardiovascular diseases, metabolic syndrome, high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, and stress are among conditions that can be attributed to traffic.

The presence of traffic has an impact not only on people but also on other living things. One of the most major obstacles that many animals, particularly those that are small and unable to fly, are forced to surmount is the presence of roads. For instance, factors such as vehicle crashes, air pollution, and road chemicals are all things that pose a threat to the variety and abundance of insects.

Numerous investigations are currently being carried out by scientists in order to find a solution to this issue, which is experienced by humans in addition to other forms of life. Let's take a more in-depth look at two of them, shall we?

The direction from which the wind is blowing can also have an effect on how effective roadside barriers are. In conditions in which the wind blows from a variety of directions, the environmental barrier strategies that consist of a combination of a fence and a tree-fence are the most effective techniques for enhancing air quality.

Environmental barriers have the potential to lessen the negative effects that traffic has on people as well as on other forms of life.

Clever and Original Approaches

Another method that is now under investigation to decrease the negative effects that traffic has on the environment and the living things in it is the application of artificial intelligence technology.

This technology is used in almost every business today. The levels of air pollution and noise were continuously measured in a short amount of time by utilizing sensors that were placed in different areas of the city. The results of these measurements were then transferred to the system that was being used in the study, and the findings of this study were published in the Journal of Decision Systems.

Roadside signs and markings

The use of artificial intelligence enables quick decisions to be made, which might help relieve traffic congestion in areas that are already crowded.

People today have the ability to employ programs based on computers to meet a diverse range of requirements. It is human beings who are responsible for the creation of software and the laws that govern its use. Smart urbanization planning makes it possible to avoid causing harm to people, other living beings, or the environment, while also allowing for the integration of rapidly advancing technologies with their natural settings.

Traffic is a bad experience, I know of a city in My country Nigeria that has only one express way and if you are to be on traffic on this road, it would be very difficult to get through, that is why planning of towns should be given a enough time.

Yeah, Cities have long been recognized as the principal source of invention and economic advancement in civilization; nevertheless, cities are also recognized as a major source of pollution and illness. This recognition dates back quite some time.

In my grandmothers basement there is a hole underneath the stairs. My sister crawled into it as a child and went so far I couldn't see her anymore. Turns out our town is crisscrossed with tunnels, many of wich were dug out for the war and during prohibition. New sidewalks and construction have covered up many of them in the downtown area, but the hidden world underground remains...

Ohh sorry to hear the traumatic incident happened with you. We humans do many activities affecting the our environment, without realizing the after effects. That is why smart city concept is so important for future generations.

It wasn't traimatic (my sister backed out of the tunnel) just a little worrying for a few moments. :)
