Pine Cone Syrup: A Healing Natural Syrup For Immunity

avatar

Hello there, Hivers!

The exquisite and adorable pine tree fruit, the cone, is now available in a startling form that we are not used to seeing in our kitchens: pine cone syrup!

Although it is not a flavor we encounter very often, cone syrup, also known as pine cone jam, is a flavor that has been manufactured in various nations for many years and has been helpful for almost hundreds of years.

Benefits of Cone Syrup

Cone syrup is an antidote to the never-ending coughing fits, and it works quickly to relieve the symptoms.

It promotes the speedy recovery from winter illnesses such as the flu and the common cold.
It is also known to aid in the healing of ailments like asthma and bronchitis.

It cleanses the lungs, which has the effect of resolving the breathing problem.

Cone syrup, which also improves the immune system, protects the body from a variety of ailments, including the flu and cold.

To make the cone syrup, you'll need little, fresh green cones to begin with. As a result, it is primarily done in the spring and summer months, but don't worry; you can get it from herbalists and reputable online and offline retailers that sell natural/organic products.

Ingredients

Now that you know you should never try to make cone syrup with brown cones, let's just think about it and make a list of the ingredients you'll need:

  • 25-30 tiny green cones, fresh

  • Water (six glasses)

  • granulated sugar (about 4-5 cups) (you can increase or decrease according to your taste)

  • lemon juice, 1-2 tablespoons

Preparation

Preparing pine cone syrup is a difficult task, to be sure, but it will be well worth your time and work in the end.

First, thoroughly clean the cones you'll be using one at a time to remove any dust or grime that has accumulated on them.

After that, place the cones in a large bowl with plenty of water and leave them there for one day.

Place the cones in a pot with lots of water and bring to a boil the next day.

Transfer the lightly boiled cones to the pot with this first water that you boiled by filtering.

Boil 6 glasses of water in a separate location (in a kettle) and re-boil the cones with this measured water after they have been cleansed of all undesired dirt.

When the water begins to boil, half-close the pot's cover and reduce the heat to the lowest setting on the stove.

Cook for 1.5-2 hours in this manner.

Add the granulated sugar to the mixture at the end of this time and heat, stirring regularly, until it thickens.

Scoop and discard the foam that forms on top of it while it cooks.
When it reaches the desired consistency, add the lemon juice and stir it in a little more before turning off the heat.

Allow the contents in the pot to cool to room temperature. Drain the cones once it has reached room temperature. (Of course, some people prefer to leave the cones inside; the choice is yours.) Divide your cone syrup into jars and seal the lids airtight.

The Syrup is ready to enjoy. Store them well since they can last for months.
