Hello Hello Community! ✨, Today we continue along the same lines of Dark Romance, specifically with the same author. After becoming so hooked on the story presented in Wretched, I immediately downloaded the next book to see which characters the author would surprise me with next. I must say that the bar was set very high and was not surpassed, However, the time I spent reading this book was not wasted at all because it certainly presented a very enjoyable and entertaining story, which strayed a little from the structure I was used to with this series, and I really liked that. It tells me a lot about the author's versatility, which is why in this post we will talk about Twisted: A Never After Novel 💎🐍.

Julian Faraci has had to bear the pain of a childhood filled with abuse and misery, so with effort, and some crimes, he has managed to position himself as a renowned man within the diamond industry. For years, he has been second in command at Sultanes, and now that Ali Karam, its owner, is terminally ill, his plans are focused on inheriting the entire company and becoming the most powerful man in the world. However, this is not so easy to achieve, as there is an obstacle in his way: a woman, Ali's daughter and sole heir to his entire fortune.

Yasmin Karam has never had to worry about anything in her life. As the daughter of a billionaire who owns the largest diamond company, opportunities have always been handed to her on a silver platter. However, now her father has fallen ill and his prognosis is not good, so as the heir to everything, she has been required to marry regardless of the fact that her heart already belongs to someone else, but this man is not worthy of her father's affection. Desperate to find a solution, she makes a deal with Julian that will lead her to become completely dependent on him.

As you know, I have been a fan of this series of books for some time, specifically since I came across Scarred, and I have noticed that these stories have a certain structure or mould that characterises them. To begin with, we always focus on the character who represents the villain or villainess of the original story on which it is based. in this case, the story is Aladdin, and the protagonists are Jasmine and Jafar, or as we know them in this book, Yasmine and Julian.

Another particular feature is that all the characters are of questionable morality, so you quickly learn that you really shouldn't trust almost anyone who claims to be a “friend” or is closely linked to one of the main characters. I was already expecting this mould, so there were no surprises in this story in terms of the true intentions of certain characters. However, there was one in particular that surprised me in a good way, because I always expected them to betray Yasmín, and it turned out to be a true friendship. I find these small changes interesting because they continue to surprise the reader, who is already accustomed to a certain structure.

In a brief comparison with its predecessor, Wretched, I must say that although I also read this book in a day and found it quite interesting, I did not enjoy it as much as the previous one. To begin with, we are again faced with a male character involved in illegal activities and a female character who is exempt from this whole world. Let's just say that I'm tired of the damsel in distress story. I also feel that the illegal implications of this story lacked development. In other words, it is always mentioned (and only mentioned) that the diamond empire that is Sultana is built on businesses that are not entirely legal, but they never explain or demonstrate the extent to which these businesses are turbulent.

I feel that the story focuses more on family issues and unresolved traumas than on delving into all the damage caused by the diamond business. The former is not bad, but I found the topic of illegal mining and the real danger behind it so interesting to explore and learn about through a story like this that I ended up feeling that it was not taken advantage of.

The main characters do not feel as strong as in previous books. Julian does not seem so bad to me, although he is very intelligent, and Yasmin stressed me out all the time with her lack of cunning. However, if I had to choose between the two, I would say that Julian was by far my favourite, not only because of his remarkable evolution throughout the story, but also because of the intelligence he shows in his actions. It is clear that he is a determined businessman who does not mind resorting to any means necessary to get what he wants, but deep down he is loyal to those who deserve it. The relationship he has with Ali (Yasmin's father) is very beautiful and genuine. It seems that despite everything, they have learned to love each other as father and son, and they respect each other for that.

Yasmín, on the other hand, is quite unbearable at times, with her remarkable submission to all her father's decisions, her lack of initiative in some things, and the ease with which she assumes that everything will turn out fine in the end. She is an entirely naive character that I definitely do not like. She confirmed that I prefer female protagonists who impose their presence in their stories, and Yasmín is definitely not that kind of protagonist.

The plot twist in this book was totally predictable for me. From the beginning, I knew that that character would betray Julian, and that that other character would end up being a rat to Yasmin. Kudos to her for deciding to kill him and not letting someone else resolve the conflict for her. But even so, I enjoyed how the whole story led us to that ending. It didn't feel rushed, as can sometimes happen, so in terms of development, I thought it was well done.

I felt the same way about the romance. As I read, I saw how they both gave each other space, and that brought them a little closer together. I think the way the author moved the story along so that the romance didn't feel abrupt was a job she did with great detail. In this story, the protagonists had known each other for years, which reinforced the hatred they felt for each other, but I liked seeing how Yasmín had a crush on Julian from the beginning, which obviously turned into contempt due to some of his behaviour towards her, but it was an interesting element to read.

¡Hola Hola Comunidad! ✨, hoy continuamos en la misma línea de Dark Romance específicamente con la misma autora, y es que luego de quedar tan enganchada con la historia planteada en Wretched inmediatamente descargué el siguiente libro para ver con qué personajes ahora me sorprendía la autora, desde ya digo que la vara estaba muy alta y no fue superada, pero el tiempo que invertí leyendo éste libro para nada fue desperdiciado porque ciertamente se planteó una historia bastante amena y entretenida, que se salió un poco de la estructura a la que venía acostumbrada con ésta serie y la verdad es que eso me gustó mucho, me dice bastante de la versatilidad de la autora, es por eso entonces que en éste post hablaremos sobre Twisted: Una historia de Nunca Jamás 💎🐍.

Julian Faraci ha tenido que cargar con el dolor de una infancia llena de maltrato y miseria, por lo que con esfuerzo, y algunos crímenes, ha logrado posicionarse como un hombre de renombre dentro de la industria de los diamantes, desde hace años es el segundo al mando de Sultanes y ahora que Ali Karam, su propietario, está terriblemente enfermo, sus planes van dirigidos en ser él quien herede toda la compañía y así poder convertirse en el hombre con mayor poder en el mundo, sin embargo ésto no resulta tan fácil de lograr, pues en su camino hay un obstáculo, una mujer, la hija de Ali y heredera absoluta de toda su fortuna.

Yasmín Karam nunca ha tenido que preocuparse por nada en la vida, al ser la hija de un multimillonario dueño de la más grande empresa de diamantes, las oportunidades siempre han estado en bandeja de plata para ella, sin embargo ahora su padre ha enfermado y su pronóstico de vida no es nada bueno, por lo que como heredera de todo se le ha exigido casarse sin importar que su corazón ya tenga dueño, pero éste hombre no es digno del afecto de su padre. Desesperada por encontrar una solución, hace un trato con Julian que la llevará directo a depender completamente de él.

Como ya saben yo vengo siendo fan de ésta serie de libros desde hace un tiempo, específicamente cuando me encontré con Scarred, y sí he venido notando que éstas historias tienen cierta estructura o molde que las caracteriza, para empezar siempre nos centramos en quien representa al villano o villana del cuento original en el que se inspira, en éste caso la historia es la de Aladdin y tenemos como protagonistas a quién sería a Jazmín y Jafar, o como los conocemos en éste libro Yasmín y Julian.

Otra característica particular es que todos los personajes son de moralidad cuestionable, así que rápido aprendes que realmente no debes confiar en casi nadie que diga ser “amigo” o se encuentre estrechamente ligado a alguno de los personajes principales, éste molde ya era esperado por mí por lo que en ésta historia no hubo sorpresas en cuanto a las verdaderas intenciones de ciertos personajes, sin embargo hubo uno en particular que me sorprendió para bien, porque siempre esperé que traicionara a Yasmín y resultó ser una amistad verdadera, esos pequeños cambios me parecen interesantes porque sigues sorprendiendo al lector que ya viene acostumbrado a cierta estructura.

En una pequeña comparación con la historia antecesora que es Wretched, debo decir que si bien éste libro también me lo leí en un día y me pareció una historia bastante interesante, no llegó a gustarme tanto como el anterior, para empezar nuevamente estamos ante un personaje masculino implicado en asuntos ilegales y un personaje femenino que está exenta de todo éste mundo, digamos que la historia de la damisela en apuros ya me tiene cansada, aparte siento que me faltó desarrollo en las implicaciones ilegales en las que se encontraba ésta historia, es decir siempre se menciona (y solo queda en la mención) que el imperio de diamantes que es Sultana está constituido en negocios que no son del todo legales, pero nunca explican o demuestran hasta qué punto son negocios turbulentos.

Siento que la historia va más enfocada en asuntos familiares y traumas no resueltos, que en profundizar en todo el daño que genera el negocio de los diamantes, que lo primero no está mal, solo que el tema de la minería ilegal y el peligro real que hay detrás de ella me parecía tan interesante de explorar y conocer a través de una historia como ésta, que terminé con la sensación de que no se supo aprovechar.

Los personajes principales no se sienten tan fuertes como en libros anteriores, es decir Julian ni me parece tan malo aunque sí muy inteligente, y Yasmín todo el tiempo me estresó con su falta de astucia, sin embargo si tuviese que elegir entre ellos dos diría que por mucho mi favorito fue Julian, no solo por la notable evolución que tiene a lo largo de la historia, sino por la inteligencia que refleja en sus acciones, se nota que es un hombre de negocios con determinación que no le importa recurrir al método que sea con tal que obtener lo que quiere, pero que dentro se todo es leal con quien lo merece, la relación que tiene con Ali (el padre de Yasmín) es muy linda y genuina, se ve como a pesar de todo ambos se han aprendido a querer como padre e hijo, y se respetan por ello.

Yasmín por otro lado en algunos momentos me resulta bastante insoportable, esa notable sumisión ante todas las decisiones de su padre, la falta de iniciativa por algunas cosas, esa facilidad con la que asume que todo al final saldrá bien, es un personaje enteramente ingenuo que definitivamente no me agrada, con ella confirmé que me gustan más las protagonistas femeninas que imponen presencia en sus historias, Yasmín definitivamente no es esa clase de protagonista.

El “giro de trama” de éste libro fue totalmente predecible para mí, desde el inicio sabía que ese personaje traicionaria a Julian, y que ese otro personaje terminaría siendo una rata callejera para Yasmín, puntos para ella porque decidió matarlo y no dejar que otro le resolviera el conflicto, pero aún así disfruté como toda la historia nos fue llevando hacía ese final, no se sintió apresurado como a veces puede llegar a pasar, así que en cuanto a desarrollo me pareció un buen trabajo.

Igualmente me pasó con el romance, conforme iba leyendo veía como ambos cedían espacio al otro y eso los acercaba un poco más, me parece que la forma en que la autora movilizó la historia para que el romance no se sintiera abrupto fue un trabajo que llevó con detalle. En ésta historia los protagonistas se conocían desde hace años, así que eso refuerza el odio que sienten el uno por el otro, pero me gustó ver como Yasmín ya tenía un crush por Julian desde el inicio, que obviamente se convirtió en desprecio por algunos comenzar de él hacía ella, pero fue un elemento interesante de leer.
