Monomad challenge entry #131: Afro "hairitage".

Untrue facts, but I think I'm the only African still gassed up by the ingenuity of afro hairstylists, and the beauty of afro hairstyles. Each time I come across a woman wearing an afro hairstyle, I'm always moved to give compliments.

Showcasing an reintroducing the beauty of afro hairstyles was what I tried to do on this project with Amaka(our stylist), Jay(the model), and Neenah(The hairstylist). It was the second set we worked after "Bimbo's hat shop". A project I'll share its monochrome variants soon.

For this project, Jay was styled in an African hairstyle called "Kiko", made by a technique called African threading. My sisters used to rock the hairstyle back when we were kids. Sadly we don't see much of it these days. It's wig all the time. Not like it's a bad thing though.

Too much talk already, here are the photos of Jay rocking the afro hairstyle called "Kiko

These photos have inspired me to work on a project featuring various African hairstyle. I had to create a mood board while making this post. It might be my last major project this year, or the first for next year.

The photos are my entry for the #monomad challenge.
