Monomad challenge entry #155: The tale of Lala Monoe!

Yes, it's Lala Monoe, not Monroe.

I've always wanted to create photos that felt and looked like vintage paintings or even vintage photographs. One of the things that characterized portraits like that was the styling; fashion styling to be precise. I grew fond of vintage fashion after I produced my first project for the year; Madam Colette.

I promised myself that I would build on that momentum and work on several other projects with vintage styling. This year hasn't exactly happened as planned, so I have been unable to follow up on Madam Colette. Maybe I work on one of such projects before the year runs out. Until then, here's the tale of Lala Monoe.

Around the end of last month, I got to photograph Pamela(Lala). Everything was last minute. I was called about the shooting in the morning and I had to shoot in the evening of the same day. Who does that? Well, I had the day without any activity, so I accepted to do the shoot. Honestly, I needed the cash, and since it was impromptu, I billed higher than my original price.

I had no prior knowledge of what I was going to shoot. Crazy yea? I knew that I was going to work a miracle. And boy, I really did work a miracle. Her styling made it very easy. She had dressed in a seemingly vintage outfit, and I knew straight up what I was going to do; painterly portraits. I don't think I've attempted it before, but I tried, and the results were amazing.

As my entry for the monomad challenge, I'll be sharing monochrome variants of the photos from the session. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
