Buen día a todos, hoy les vengo a contar un poco a cerca del porqué he estado un poco alejada de la plataforma.

Como ustedes saben, soy enfermera en plena formación, hace unos meses terminé la licenciatura, y realmente no me di un tiempo para descansar, inmediatamente me inscribí a un diplomado ya que al haber estudiado en línea la licenciatura no hubo mucha oportunidad de realizar prácticas, y aun que ya ejerzo de enfermera, quise pasar por esta maravillosa experiencia.

Pues bien, a 3 meses de haber iniciado el diplomado nos dieron campo clínico para iniciar las primeras prácticas, las cuales me quedaron en mis guardias contrarias, es decir, que ahora ando en el trabajo 3 noches y 3 noches de practica, si es algo cansado ya que solo me queda un noche para poder dormir en mi casita, pero vale la pena por el proceso de aprendizaje que estamos teniendo y el crecimiento como persona que estamos teniendo al mismo tiempo.

Las prácticas que estamos realizando en una estancia geriátrica, y como su nombre lo dice, nos dedicamos al cuidado, atención y apoyo al adulto mayor.

Les puedo decir que es una experiencia totalmente diferente a lo que se hace en un hospital, que aunque en el hospital si atendemos a adultos mayores, no es tan personalizada la atención ya que generalmente hay un familiar acompañándolo y en su caso apoyándolo.

Desgraciadamente no pude tomar fotos con los pacientes porque hay que cuidar la privacidad de ellos, pero les puedo hablar un poco acerca de mis primeras impresiones y contarles un poco acerca de algunos de ellos.

Para comenzar les diré que la estancia se encuentra en las afueras de la ciudad, gracias a Dios me tocó realizar mis practicas con dos buenas amigas Angie y Lupita, nos reunimos en el centro de la ciudad y ya juntas nos dirigimos hacia allá para iniciar esta aventura.

The internship we are doing in a geriatric stay, and as the name says, we are dedicated to the care, attention and support to the elderly.

I can tell you that it is a totally different experience from what is done in a hospital, although in the hospital we do take care of older adults, the attention is not as personalized since there is usually a family member accompanying and supporting them.

Unfortunately I could not take pictures with the patients because we have to take care of their privacy, but I can tell you a little about my first impressions and tell you a little about some of them.

To begin with I will tell you that the ranch is located in the outskirts of the city, thank God I had the chance to do my internship with two good friends Angie and Lupita, we met in the center of the city and together we headed there to start this adventure.

Al llegar ya se encontraban durmiendo en sus camas todos los pacientes, por lo que los enfermeros nos hablaron de cada uno mencionando sus padecimientos para poder conocerlos un poco.

Son 16 pacientes de entre 75 y 90 años, solo dos de ellos postrados mas que nada por la edad avanzada, algunos con diabetes, hipertensión o con demencia senil, durante la noche solo es estar pendiente de ellos, cambiar pañales y movilizarlos para evitar la aparición de escaras.

Ya por la mañana se les aseo, cambio de ropa y se les levanto para que pudieran iniciar el día con las actividades cotidianas.

Entre las que mas me acuerdo están Doña Fanny, que se la pasa llamando a su hija Irene ya que en su mente tiene la idea de que la esta esperando para ir a comprar. Doña Mari, es todo un personaje, estaba de muy buen humor hablaba de los enamorados que tuvo en su vida.
Entre los señores estaba Don Juan, que como todo un Don Juan se puso a cantarle a mi compañera una canción que la había escuchado con pedro infante, la verdad no se como se llama pero dice así:

Despierta, dulce amor de mi vida,
despierta, si te encuentras dormida,
escucha mi voz cantar bajo tu ventana,
con esta canción te vengo.. el alma.

En ese momento me recordó a mi papá ya que el también cantaba las canciones de Pedro Infante mientras trabajaba, le salían muy bien, por eso me llamó la atención el haber escuchado la canción, fue un recuerdo bastante agradable.

No les voy a mentir, si es un poco triste ver que algunos ya no se pueden valer por si mismos, o que sean como niños, pero es una experiencia inolvidable ya que dentro de todo ves sus ganas de vivir, la alegría que les da ver gente nueva en su ambiente.

I'm not going to lie to you, it is a little sad to see that some of them can no longer fend for themselves, or that they are like children, but it is an unforgettable experience since you can see their will to live, the joy of seeing new people in their environment.
