Gods Unchained: Weekend Reward Results
Hello fellow TCG enthusiasts!
Today I wanted to provide a quick overview of my deck and results from the recent weekend tournament. I ended up reaching my max reward as far as tournament prizes goes but I definitely missed the mark on my $GODS token rewards.
First off I'd like to start with the fact that this week I switched back from a buff aggroed Warrior deck to my old Nature Deck that I ran prior to the enduring shield meta that was around a few weeks ago. With the amount of nerfs that GU keeps dishing out to Warrior cards I dipped all the way from High Gold/Diamond down into Midnight. I should have known better to keep trying to force the deck even though I knew its key features were beat down. As a result I easily lost out on the chance to increase the amount of packs I would have won.
Winnings and Placement
As I started the week at Midnight Shadow, the max rewards I could get are:
- 1 Rare Core pack
- 2 Epic Core packs
- 2 Dive Order (DO) Epic packs
After switching to Nature, I easily went 17 out of 20 and net the full reward set for my rank. Note that the qualifier is out of 25 games so I technically could have kept going for greater rewards if I started at a better rank. Generally it seems each DO epic pack is turning out to be worth around $2 in cards with a lucky spike to $20 for one of my packs in the prior weeks.
In addition to earning packs I was also qualified to earn $GODS tokens via the Blessing of the Gods event. This event wives airdrop points for winning and playing matches against unique opponents minimum of 20 up to 60 in three sets. I was unfortunately taxed for time this weekend so I didn't complete the full 60 matches to ensure full earning from the $GODS giveaway but did hit the first mark at 20. As such I still will end up netting a few tokens from this which are currently valued at $5.15 each as of 11/22/21 and has held relatively steady since release. For only a few hours of play time, that I actually enjoy, this is incredible payout.
My Deck
Full disclosure I've been playing since Mid-2021 and as such I've been able to scoop some of the older cards prior to the big influx of players currently. That said, I'm far from some of the big players in the game and I do not have some of the crazy powerful cards such as Jason or Demogorgan.
The above deck uses primarily a mix of Trials and Divine Order cards but most of the winning power from the deck actually comes from a few key core set cards (boxed) namely Marsh Walker and Shieldbearer. If I was able to get both of those cards down in my first hand I would typically end the game in 6 turns.
Generally I knew if I was going to win or lose even by round 4 as I'd have control and be able to burst down my opponent or my opponent would be clearing my board and I wouldn't be able to recover. A key weakness in my deck is a lack of WARD and not many strong board clears such as wildfire, The Hunt, etc. I believe this deck can easily carry me into Mythic and potentially even place well. As stated it is really only weak against control type decks such as Deception or the sleep board clear.
In addition to the combo I described above another card that tended to solidify a victory was Moon-Crazed Cyclops.
If you can frenzy on the turn he is played he is more or less a 5/5 for 4* that has a self-buff. Highly underrated card that I don't see nearly as much as I'd expect.

Very nice game, I'm loving it.
Yeah, its focused on the game more than the tokenomics so far so it will be interesting to see how it all plays out. End of the day I like playing this one so I'll stick with it even if it all goes to 0. In fact, if thats the case I could actually afford to buy a Jason!
Great write up about Gods Unchained.
I have been hearing a lot of good things about this game, especially the new updates. I feel it could be worth another look for me.
Its a ton of fun if you enjoy Hearthstone.
There are really only 2 downsides imo:
The gas fee for ETH is the only reason I don't look at a lot of Ethereum based games. I accepted free items on a game I played that is Ethereum based and the gas fee (for transfer) was more then what I could sell the item for. I really don't get how that could be considered a good thing.
If they can fix that then I think Ethereum games could be big.
I think it is a matter of time. Every project on ETH in existence knows this is too big of an issue and would ultimately kill them. Its adapt and fix the issue or die time.
I am playing that too, but still didn't get what is what :)
It does take a few rounds to learn the cards and abilities but you'll get there I'm sure.

Unfortunate... If I had been in Mythic I think I would have been closer to 60% instead of 80+

Id certainly be happy about that. I'm not selling it any time soon and the gameplay alone is really good imo. That said, I'm an old school TCG player and like the more traditional strategy turn based games.
