Hola, mis amigos. Que placer saludarlos este jueves, espero que todos estén bien.
Dicen que recordar es volver a vivir y de eso no tengo la menor duda. Sobre todo si son recuerdos gratos como este que me sucedió esta mañana. Regresé a casa a eso de las 10 y algo, luego de un recorrido más o menos habitual por la zona, y cuando encendí el televisor, para mi sorpresa, estaba cantando Air Supply, uno de mis ídolos en materia de música. Para mí, Air Supply fue la banda que, literalmente, convirtió el amor en melodía.

They say that remembering is living again, and I have no doubt about that. Especially when they are fond memories, like the one that happened to me this morning. I got home around 10:30 or so, after a fairly usual walk around the neighborhood, and when I turned on the TV, to my surprise, Air Supply was performing—one of my idols in music. For me, Air Supply was the band that literally turned love into melody.
Y que emoción tan grande al volver a verlos, enseguida me transporté a mis años mozos, allá por los finales de los 80, cuando era una jovencita entusiasta y soñadora (soñadora soy todavía, entusiasta no mucho). Esta música marcó una de las etapas más lindas de mi vida y la de muchos contemporáneos conmigo. En su momento tuve varios cassettes con su música, la música que me transportaba al cielo cuando empecé mi transitar por los caminos del amor y del dolor.
What a great emotion to see them again. I was immediately transported back to my younger days, back in the late 80s, when I was an enthusiastic, dreamy young woman (I’m still dreamy, though not so enthusiastic anymore). Their music marked one of the most beautiful stages of my life and of many of my contemporaries. Back in the day, I had several cassettes of their music—the music that lifted me to heaven when I first began walking the paths of love and pain.
Hay grupos que marcan una época y Air Supply es uno de ellos, esa dupla australiana que lleva décadas demostrando que el amor, con todos sus matices, puede convertirse en música celestial. Formada por Russell Hitchcock (voz) y Graham Russell (guitarra y composición), esta banda descubrió una fórmula sencilla y perfecta, baladas impecables, armonías de otro mundo y letras que parecen escritas desde el corazón de quien ha amado de verdad.
There are bands that define an era, and Air Supply is one of them—that Australian duo that has spent decades proving that love, with all its nuances, can be turned into heavenly music. What makes Air Supply so special? Perhaps it’s Hitchcock’s voice—one of the most recognizable in soft rock history, capable of hitting impossible high notes without losing a single ounce of emotion. Or maybe it’s Russell’s sensitivity for crafting songs that, no matter where you hear them, take you straight back to those moments in life when love was everything.
Temas como "All Out of Love", "Making Love Out of Nothing at All" o "Every Woman in the World" no son simples canciones. Son himnos generacionales que han acompañado primeras citas, despedidas eternas, bodas y reencuentros. Cuando suena el inconfundible comienzo de "Lost in Love", algo sucede, la gente sonríe, recuerda, y muchos no pueden evitar cantar cada palabra. Yo misma me aprendí de memoria muchas de sus canciones, aunque no entendía casi nada, porque la música no entiende de idiomas.
Songs like "All Out of Love," "Making Love Out of Nothing at All," or "Every Woman in the World" are not just songs. They are generational anthems that have accompanied first dates, eternal goodbyes, weddings, and reunions. When the unmistakable beginning of "Lost in Love" plays, something happens—people smile, remember, and many can’t help but sing every word. I myself memorized many of their songs, even though I barely understood the lyrics, because music doesn’t care about language.
Y lo más sorprendente es que, después de tantos años, siguen sonando igual de frescos. Air Supply no necesita artificios ni producción exagerada. Su música funciona porque es honesta. Habla de amores, felicidades, de entrega, de ese miedo a perder al ser amado y de la certeza de que, a veces, el amor es lo único que realmente importa.
And the most surprising thing is that, after so many years, they still sound just as fresh. Air Supply needs no gimmicks or over-the-top production. Their music works because it’s honest. It speaks of love, happiness, devotion, of the fear of losing the one you love, and of the certainty that sometimes love is the only thing that truly matters.
Los temas musicales pasan a la historia a velocidad de la luz, sin embargo, los temas de Air Supply se mantienen firme. Este grupo sigue llenando teatros y emocionando a quienes crecieron con sus canciones y también a quienes las descubren por primera vez. Porque el amor, como la buena música, nunca pasa de moda. Ojalá los jóvenes de ahora pudieran apreciar esta músicaa. Si eres un joven y aún no te has dejado llevar por sus arpegios y esas armonías perfectas, hazte un favor: pon "The One That You Love" y déjate llevar. Air Supply es, sencillamente, la banda sonora del corazón.
Musical trends come and go at the speed of light, yet Air Supply’s songs stand firm. This band continues to fill theaters and move not only those who grew up with their songs but also those discovering them for the first time. Because love, like good music, never goes out of style. I wish young people today could appreciate this music. If you’re young and haven’t yet let yourself be carried away by their arpeggios and perfect harmonies, do yourself a favor: put on "The One That You Love" and let go. Air Supply is, simply, the soundtrack of the heart.

Si, una época linda con esos temas. Gracias por la visita.
Me recuerda los domingos que ponían en la televisión el programa "Colorama" y entre los mejores en el top de la semana siempre estaba Air Supply. Los veíamos mientras organizábamos las ropas en las taquillas y llenábamos las maletas donde cada grupo de amigos guardaba las golosinas que traíamos de casa, para reforzar la merienda del retorno del campo o antes de dormir. Muchas fiestas de quince se bailaron con su música y muchas bodas. Ahora soy mayor de edad y los tengo en videos y audios en mi PC. Es un grupo que nunca va a pasar de moda.
