Descubriendo un lugar maravilloso/Discovering a Wonderful Place (Esp-Eng)
Hola, mis amigos de worldmappin. Que placer saludarlos nuevamente para hablarles de un lugar que recién conocí.
Hoy, iba caminando y pasé frente a un portón con un cartel que llamó mi atención. Decía que vendían miel de la tierra y pan de abeja. Por pura curiosidad quise saber que era el pan de abeja y entré. Y para mi sorpresa, descubrí una finca que es un sueño, una de esas que te dejan con la boca abierta y el alma tranquila. Este sitio es como sacado de una película, en pleno campo de mi Cuba, con un toque antiguo y de nostalgia que lo hace único.
Hello, my friends from Worldmappin. What a pleasure it is to greet you again to tell you about a place I just discovered.
Today, I was walking along and passed by a gate with a sign that caught my attention. It said they sold local honey and bee bread. Out of pure curiosity, I wanted to know what bee bread was, so I went in. And to my surprise, I discovered a farm that is a dream—one of those places that leaves you with your mouth open and your soul at peace. This place is like something out of a movie, right in the countryside of my Cuba, with an antique, nostalgic touch that makes it unique.
Hay personas con un gusto exquisito que si se une con un poco de suerte y posibilidad, pueden hacer lo que quieran. Ese es el caso del dueño de esta finca. Este no es un lugar común, él lo diseñó todo a su gusto. Es una casona plantada en medio de una finca que fue en su momento fue un basurero, me contó su dueño.
There are people with exquisite taste who, if joined with a bit of luck and means, can create whatever they want. That's the case with the owner of this farm. This is no ordinary place; he designed everything to his liking. It's a large manor house planted in the middle of what was once a garbage dump, the owner told me.
La finca se encuentra ubicada justo en la entrada de un barrio llamado "Club Campestre", municipio Bauta, provincia Artemisa. El lugar en cuestión está a unos metros después de Punta Brava, mi pueblo. Este sitio está rodeado de un inmenso muro de piedras y al entrar, encuentra un gran pasillo, a sus lados objetos antiguos y oxidados como cadenas, arados, máquinas de escribir y de coser y hasta un ancla de barco.
The farm is located right at the entrance of a neighborhood called "Club Campestre," in the municipality of Bauta, Artemisa province. The place in question is just a few meters past Punta Brava, my town. This spot is surrounded by a massive stone wall, and upon entering, you find a large hallway. On either side are old, rusty objects like chains, plows, typewriters and sewing machines, and even a ship's anchor.
También hay una construcción de yagua o guano en forma de triángulo que la llaman "Vara en tierra" (Varentierra) que se empleaba para guardar materiales y resguardaese del mal del tiempo y los huracanes. Esta "casa" era utilizada en épocas remotas por los campesinos. Hay unas ollas gigantescas donde se hacía miel de pulga, un carretón muy grande usado por esclavos y un jardín de platicerios que están a la venta.
There's also a structure made of yagua or palm thatch, triangular in shape, which they call "Vara en tierra" (Varentierra). It was used in the past for storing materials and sheltering from bad weather and hurricanes. This type of "house" was used by peasants in remote times. There are giant cauldrons where flea honey used to be made, a very large cart used by enslaved people, and a garden of succulent plants that are for sale.
Dentro de la casa, en cada esquina te topas con una antigüedad que parece que va a hablarte. Lámparas de araña que echan luz tenue, relojes de pared que suenan cada hora con un campanazo seco y muebles de caoba con un brillo que no se ve en ningún lado. Las paredes, son una galería. Pinturas de todos los tamaños, de esas que ves y te pasas un rato largo descifrando lo que el artista quiso decir. Hay paisajes, retratos de gente con cara seria, y algún que otro bodegón con frutas que dan ganas de morderlas.
Inside the house, at every corner, you come across an antique that seems like it's about to speak to you. Crystal chandeliers casting a soft glow, wall clocks that chime dryly every hour, and mahogany furniture with a shine you won't see anywhere else. The walls are a gallery. Paintings of all sizes—the kind you stare at for a long while, trying to decipher what the artist meant. There are landscapes, portraits of serious-faced people, and the occasional still life with fruits so vivid you want to bite them.
Pero eso no es nada porque cuando sales al jardín, es que se te va la cabeza y no sabes para donde mirar. Es un vergel cuidado con esmero, con flores de colores que parecen sacadas de un libro de cuentos infantiles. Y entre las matas, de repente, te encuentras con varias esculturas, una figura de bronce acá, que le dan un aire como de museo al aire libre. El detalle más de hermoso es el pavoreal. Ese animal anda por ahí como el dueño del pedazo, con su cola de colores, paseándose majestuoso. Cuando echa su grito, parece que está llamando a la lluvia.
But that's nothing, because when you step out into the garden, your mind is blown, and you don't know where to look. It's a meticulously cared-for orchard, with colorful flowers that seem plucked from a children's storybook. And among the plants, suddenly, you find several sculptures—a bronze figure here, another there—giving it an open-air museum vibe. The most beautiful detail is the peacock. That animal strolls around as if it owns the place, with its colorful tail, parading majestically. When it lets out its cry, it sounds like it's calling for rain.
Una de las atracciones, sin dudas, son las fuentes de agua. Unas son redondas con hermosas esculturas. Otra es una construcción de piedra, grande, con una pileta donde hay carpas rojas y naranjas que se mueven como seda. Y lo más loco es que tiene un puentecito de piedra que pasa por encima, como para que cruces y te sientas en un cuento de hadas. El agua corre, las carpas nadan, y el sol se refleja en todo eso creando un espectáculo de luces.
One of the attractions, without a doubt, are the water fountains. Some are round with beautiful sculptures. Another is a large stone construction with a pool where red and orange carp move like silk. And the craziest part is that it has a little stone bridge that goes over it, so you can cross and feel like you're in a fairy tale. The water flows, the carp swim, and the sun reflects off it all, creating a spectacular play of light.
Hay un palomar, palmas peludas (una especie protegida). Y además, gigantezcas matas de mango. Hay de varias clases, y el olor a mango maduro te sigue a todos lados. Imagínate sentarte en la terraza techada, con un vaso de jugo de mango bien frío, viendo el jardín. Esa terraza es otro nivel, con sus mecedoras y su techo de tejas, el lugar perfecto para descansar. Y luego está la piscina.
There's a dovecote, shaggy palms (protected species). And also gigantic mango trees. There are several varieties, and the smell of ripe mango follows you everywhere. Imagine sitting on the tiled terrace, with a glass of ice-cold mango juice, looking out at the garden. That terrace is on another level, with its rocking chairs and its tile roof—the perfect place to rest. And then there's the pool.
Pero esta finca es más que un parque histórico. Los dueños tienen un negocio de alquiler de la piscina. Así como lo oyes, puedes venir con tu familia o tus amigos, pagas la entrada en un precio modesto y tienes la piscina para ti todo el día mientras degustas el paisaje. Es una piscina mediana, con agua cristalina.
But this farm is more than just a historical park. The owners run a pool rental business. Just as you hear it, you can come with your family or friends, pay a modest entry fee, and have the pool all to yourself all day while you enjoy the scenery. It's a medium-sized pool with crystal-clear water.
Tienen varios colmenares y no es para asustarse, porque vi que ellos son unos maestros. De sus colmenas sacan miel de la tierra, pura y con un sabor exquisito. Y lo otro, el pan de abeja, que según supe, es ese polen que dejan y que dicen que es un superalimento que se utiliza para muchas cisas de salud. Venden todo eso, y la gente va detrás de ese producto como las moscas a la miel.
They have several apiaries, and there's no need to be scared, because I saw that they are masters of their craft. From their hives, they harvest pure, exquisitely flavored local honey. And the other thing, bee bread, which I learned is the pollen they leave behind and is said to be a superfood used for many health-related things. They sell all of it, and people swarm to that product like flies to honey.
Si te gusta la naturaleza, el arte y la buena vibra, esta finca te va a enamorar. Pasas el día sin ver la hora, entre el canto de los pájaros, el ruido del agua de la fuente y la tranquilidad del campo. De verdad, es un pedacito de paraíso donde el tiempo pasa lento y la vida sabe a gloria. Una finca hermosa, con historia, aire puro y sabor a un pedazo de cielo.
If you like nature, art, and good vibes, this farm will make you fall in love. You spend the whole day without noticing the time, among the birdsong, the sound of the fountain's water, and the tranquility of the countryside. Truly, it's a little piece of paradise where time passes slowly and life tastes like glory. A beautiful farm, with history, fresh air, and the flavor of a slice of heaven.

This really is a dreamlike place; even the sign had me curious to see what you’d got in store for us, and honestly, it’s spectacular, from the entrance with the anchor, the bell and all those antique objects, to how well-maintained it is, and the old triangular house; it’s like a stroll through history, and then seeing the big house with all those objects was fabulous.
It’s brilliant that it’s not just a place to look around, but that the owner makes the most of the space by renting out the swimming pool, and the most surprising thing is that this place used to be a rubbish tip! Thank you so much for introducing us to such a special place. A big hug!💗

Saludos amiga, wow que bien, es la finca de mi amigo Antonio, uno de los hombres más inteligentes y de buen gusto que tengo el placer de conocer, a cada rato paso por allí y comparto temas de historia de Cuba que es un gran conocedor. Como bien dices el lugar es un paraíso en todos los sentidos, hay para todos los gustos literalmente. Viste el auto clásico que tiene? El único que hay en Cuba de esa marca, y lo usaron en San Nicolas del peladero, tiene una historia muy rica. Gracias por un post tan interesante.
