An ancient thai temple that has been renovated into a beautiful temple : wat dong phak khae or wat dong phra chao, Thailand.

✍️ Mae kha subdistrict, fang district, chiang mai province, Thailand, there is 1 ancient temple about 965 years old. This temple is called "Wat Dong Phak Khae". Or known by the villagers in this area as "Wat Dong Phra Chao". According to the old history of fang city, in the past, fang district used to be a city known as fang city. The history of fang city is written that this temple was built around A.D. 1057. and has been an abandoned temple for a long time. The reason why the villagers like to call this temple is Wat Dong Phra Chao. Because from the stories of people in the area around the year 1907, this temple was abandoned and turned into a dense forest. People in those days found a lot of Buddha images under the trees, about 10-30 Buddha images per spot, totaling about 10 spots. The villagers therefore called this place dong phra chao. It means that there are many gods or buddha images.

✍️ Later in the year 2000, the clergy in fang district joined with Buddhists in this area to help renovate this temple and buy the land to give back to the temple. The current temple has an area of ​​approximately 16050 square meters, from 19200 square meters in the past. And in A.D. 2011, about 11 years ago, this temple changed its status from an abandoned temple to a buddhist temple from the national buddhism office.

✍️ The highlight of this temple is that local buddhists help to renovate the temple, that is a chapel made of teak wood. which this temple has many chapel. And another highlight is the large pagoda that is surrounded by the annual pagodas of the 12 zodiac signs.
