Shopping at Thursday Market, Mae Ai District, Chiang Mai Province, Thailand.

Hello everyone. Today my wife and I have the opportunity to go on an errand in Mae Ai District, Chiang Mai Province. Mae Ai District is adjacent to Fang District but is the northernmost district and the last district before reaching Chiang Rai Province. We traveled to Mae Ai district as soon as we finished sending our son and granddaughter to school. My wife and I run errands in this district for about 1 hour. After that we visit temples and other places. Besides, we also stop for shopping at the Thursday market too.
In this post, I will share stories and photos of the atmosphere of the Thursday market for friends to see. Temples and other places I will share for friends to see in the next post.
First of all, I will share information about the market in another day. If your friend Mee has a chance to visit Chiang Mai in the northern district of this province and likes shopping at this style of market, he will get to know more about the market of other days. The Tuesday market opens at Chiang Dao District, around the Chiang Dao District Office. The Wednesday market will open at Fang District, near Fang Hospital. The Thursday market will open at Mae Ai District, near the Mae Ai Police Station and Mae Ai District Office. The Friday market and the Saturday market will open at Chai Prakan District. And finally, the Sunday market will open at Fang District.

The Thursday market is where almost everything groceries are sold for cheap price. But mostly clothes, shoes and food. There are many consumer goods sold at this market. Very few people shop at the Thursday market today. After the epidemic and inflation in the country. Locals shop less than in A.D. 2019 before the pandemic. I used to go shopping at the Thursday market before the COVID outbreak. And this is my 2nd time shopping at this market. Because this market is quite far from my village, about 38 kilometers, so I don't come to shopping here often. But I remember my first time shopping at the Thursday market. It was bustling with people shopping. I think it will be soon after the epidemic has subsided. People should be shopping at this market again and it's as bustling as before.
