Visit Wat Chom Khiri, Chiang Dao District, Chiang Mai, Thailand. (The temple is 131 years old).

Hello everyone.😊
Welcome to my post again. Today is another day that my wife and I stay home. And taking care of their son (autistic) closely. Until the school for child with special needs is back to school or the boy's behavior improves. So we will be able to travel again. Now the boy is irritable and sometimes hurts himself. But before my son's school is end of semester. My wife and I visited many temples.

This post, I will take everyone to see the sacred places in Chiang Mai again. But this post, I changed the location from the temple in Mae Ai District to the temple in Chiang Dao District. Chiang Dao District is another rural district with beautiful nature. And this district is close to my house. The district also has many ethnic groups (Thais, Tai-Yai people, hill tribes and Yunnan Chinese). Most of them are Buddhists. Chiang Dao District therefore has many temples. And one of all the temples in Chiang Dao District that I want to share in this post is Wat Chom Khiri.

History of the temple.

Before I take everyone to see the beautiful of this temple, I would like to tell a brief story of the temple. The location of Wat Chom Khiri was formerly an deserted temple. There is no information on when the deserted temple was built. But around the year A.D. 1893 or 131 years ago, monks and villagers at that time built a new temple. Which built the buddha image hall (viharn) of the temple first. Then build a monk's house. And around the year A.D. 1897 or 127 years ago, monks and villagers joined together to build the temple's pagoda. When the three buildings were completed, the monk and villagers asked for permission to established a temple in 1897 or 127 years ago. And named this temple : Wat Chom Khiri.

The architecture of the temple.

The buddha image hall (viharn) 131 years old.
This old architecture was made of bricks plastered with cement and painted white, Decorated with beautiful colorful patterns. And the area above the entrance door to the buddha image hall (viharn) is also decorated with oil paintings. And there is no information that this buddha image hall (viharn) was ever renovated.

The inside of the buddha image hall (viharn) is decorated with many oil paintings, which are oil paintings about buddhism. And these are some of the oil paintings in the buddha image hall (viharn).

The ceiling of the buddha image hall (viharn) is decorated with Lanna style patterns.

In addition, Inside the buddha image hall (viharn) there are many buddha statues. But the main buddha image is a large buddha image in the attitude of subduing Mara.

Original Lanna style ordination hall (ubosot).
This ordination hall (ubosot) is built from bricks plastered with cement with wooden windows and wooden door. The construction and decoration of the ordination hall (ubosot) is in the original Lanna style. My wife and I like this ordination hall (ubosot). Looks classic and simple, but beautiful and the Lanna identity is clear.

The inside of the ordination hall (ubosot) is simple, painted brown and white. And decorated with many small Buddha statues. There is only one main buddha image. The main buddha image is a buddha image in the attitude of subduing mara.

The pagoda (127 year old).
This pagoda is a polyhedron gold color pagoda with a bell-shaped top. Even though pagoda looks old, I think this pagoda is classic and beautiful.

The bell tower of the temple.
The bell tower of the temple is built and decorated in Lanna style. And this bell tower has a unique Lanna style that looks outstanding. We really like this bell tower.

Inside the temple there is also a large pavilion. This pavilion is for religious ceremonies of monks and villagers. And inside this pavilion there are many buddha images.

The sculptures and buddha images in the temple.
In addition to the interesting architecture. The temple also has many interesting statues and buddha images.

Two large white lion statues. Compare the size of the lion statue with my wife. These lion statues are at the entrance to the temple.

The statue of Ganesha also looks interesting and beautiful.

Buddha images and statues of monks in the temple.

Finally, I’ll go on to share about other interesting atmospheres in the temple. The inside of the temple is also decorated with local people's vessels and small bells.

These are the stories and photos I want to share for this post. Invite everyone to see and enjoy my stories and photos. Have a great day. See you next time. Thank you for your support and visiting my post. Bye 🤗

🌏 Wat Chom Khiri is located in Mae Na Subdistrict, Chiang Dao District, Chiang Mai Province, Thailand.

Sometimes I think you are a very happy person because you get a great opportunity to visit beautiful temples. The beauty of today's temple is truly fascinating to me. The Nirjan temple is 131 years old and it is very old but has a beautiful design. Many thanks for presenting the history of the temple, along with the beautiful photography.

Visiting temples or other attractions is my happy and relax. Even though I don't have much time to travel. And I can only visit temples or nearby attractions. Because I have to take care of my son (autistic). I want to go to the sea. I haven't been to the sea or beautiful beaches in a long time. But it's about 900 kilometers away. But someday I will have the opportunity to go to the sea. If my son's behavior and symptoms improve. Thank you. Have a nice day.
