Initiative (week 137): Work limitations for being a woman.

Greetings dear friends of Hive, with great enthusiasm today I find myself again participating in the wonderful community @WEEKENDEXPERIENCES, where @galenkp does not present different proposals, then I share with you some circumstances where I have felt that I did not like being a woman.

Here is part of my career story: When I graduated from high school, I told my parents I wanted to pursue a career that was directly related to sales. My decision was not accepted by my parents and they pressured me to study law and graduate as a lawyer. I must admit that during my adolescence I was a very indecisive person and that led me to start studying the career that my parents wanted. Five years passed and I graduated as a lawyer, I started working in the courts of Caracas and here is an important and sad point, at that time it was complicated to practice litigation as a woman, I felt like I was on a tightrope.

I made a great decision, despite my parents' dissatisfaction, and I began to take countless courses, all related to sales techniques and dealing directly with the public, which was my true vocation. At that time there was a company where I wanted to work, but there was a drawback and that was that they hired male employees, to be responsible for promoting their product by visiting hospitals in the city.

After preparing myself well in the area of sales techniques, I applied to the company where I so wanted to work as a salesperson, they told me that they were not requesting salespeople, but my confidence was so convincing that I managed to get them to do a job interview. When I was with the sales manager I made him a proposal, I asked him to give me the area where the product was sold the least and put me to the test for 2 months. That being a woman was not an impediment for me and that I had the courage of a man to dare to visit hospitals that were in somewhat dangerous places.

He looked at me with disbelief and accepted my proposal, questioning my ability due to the fact that I was a woman. In a short time I managed to make the first sales and before completing the two months of testing I managed to become the best salesperson in the Caracas area, I achieved the first sales in the hospitals that had never placed an order. With great pride I must say that I managed to achieve the goals and objectives that men had not achieved.

Being a woman was not an impediment to demonstrate that when there is a vocation and preparation, all goals can be met, that fear is the magnet where failures dwell and that we are the only architects who build our reality through certainty and the conviction.
I say goodbye sharing with you the photograph where you congratulate me on my great work. My success was the tool that gave the opportunity for other women to be part of the sales team in that company.

Many circumstances have put stones in my way because I am a woman, I admit that I have felt uncomfortable, but then I remember the strength that lives inside me and I fight to achieve my goals, I must confess that I have not always achieved them, many times I have failed, but the important thing is that I will never have the doubt of thinking: What would have been the result if I had not tried?

That being a woman is never an impediment to try, believe, dream, create and transform reality where you want to see yourself reflected... Never forget that you are the mirror.

How hard that because you are a woman the areas of work were limited, but you are a source of pride, because you were the first woman who dared to defend your right to work in that company and that because of your firmness they accepted you and not only that, you surpassed men's sales and opened up the possibility for other women to work in that company, you are a faithful example that proposing it and working for it, is to achieve it, that trying is worth it. Congratulations

I often here sad stories like you here in my country wherein parents are deciding for the career path for their child. As an educator, it must not be like this way, although I understand that the parents are so much concerned about their child. But in reality, it only adds pressure and surely the outcome will just to please the parents. It always feel so good to have the career and job that we always wanted. I hope you are well my friend. Best regards and take care always, dear.

You are right, all parents should support the career that their children want to study. I have always been a very optimistic and positive person, I try to find the lessons from the circumstances of my life. Thinking and analyzing my past, I am sure that if I had the support of my parents in working as a saleswoman, I would not have strived to be the best saleswoman. I believe that the obstacles we face along the way transform the best part of us. Today I am grateful for the lack of support from my parents, I am sure that this was the tool for me to take countless courses in sales techniques and to fight to work in my true vocation.
Thank you very much for the visit, I wish you a great afternoon. A big hug! @pinkchic

Kudos to you! 👏 👏
I admire that in a woman. It should always be like that. With disposition, determination, training, and skillful execution any job can be performed by either sex.

Hello friend, what an incredible anecdote, certainly the fact of being women can limit us in certain areas but it is up to us to show that we can handle that and more and even better than men. Thank you for your invitation, I am already preparing my ticket to participate before the end of the weekend 😃
