The Guy Next Door

"It's so unfortunate that the people we love are not the ones reciprocating the love back to us" Angela murmured under her breath, "...and it's frustrating living around someone you don't love but has a strong feelings towards you", she confessed to herself, referring to Donald her closeby neighbor who have been so caring and kind towards her, buying her food, snacks and always checking up on her.

Angela never appreciates any of that kindness because she feels her heart belongs to someone else, "Benson", the annoying part of it is that he never cares nor shows concern about her. Why her heart kept probing for him is what she couldn't understand and this was a frustrating moment for her. Whenever she thinks about Benson, there is this joy that emanates from inside of her. Sometimes she wished her feelings could be switched to Donald. She had imagined things she could do to steal Ben's heart on different occasions but she knew that it was impossible. And for Donald, he never stopped chasing her.

Donald often tells his friend Fred how he feels about Angela whenever he Sees her, and how she keeps frowning at him. How She exits the door whenever she sees him.

"One day, I was even greeting her and she didn't respond and I just quietly let her be. I've tried my best to move on but I can't. I just don't know what to do. Winning her heart is difficult for me. I think I just have to let her be" Donald said to his friend, he was already feeling clingy and he hated the feeling.

"Sometimes you just have to let go and if your fate is destined together, she'll have a soft heart for you someday" Fred replied.

On a fateful Saturday morning, Angela saw Donald and as usual expected him to greet her in his usual manner but he ignored her and focused on the clothes he was washing. It was strange, but she felt at peace that he was beginning to let her be , so she can no longer have an unwavering feeling about Ben or contemplate hard what was wrong and right. Even when she knew it was wrong for her to keep chasing a man who showed no interest, she wasn't backing down, she was even thinking of ways she could present herself to look more attractive. So this fateful day she decided to visit Benson, and just before she entered his gate she met him outside

"Hi Benson, good evening, hope your day went well today?" She greeted him. But Benson replied rudely and she was embarrassed and hurt.

"I still will not give up", she said to herself. She prepared dinner for him and brought it to his room but he just looked at the food and went out.

"When you are done eating your food please leave my room and I don't want to come back and meet you there", Benson told her and immediately she left the room to avoid violence. She was so disappointed at herself and how she had to stoop low and cheap to Benson. It was a frustrating and uncomfortable period for Angela, she hid in shame whenever she saw Benson coming. Donald at that time had tried to maintain his space, he acted casually and had stopped showing certain affection. She was beginning to realize how she had let a good man slip off her hands because she was blind to see Donald's kindness. She started to wish she could make things right, even if it was for friendship's sake.

"Good morning Donald", she greeted him one fateful morning. Donald was shocked, reluctantly he replied without giving her much attention. He didn't know why she had suddenly changed but he wasn't ready to let his guards down.

"I am sorry Donald. I've been so blind that I could not see the gold in my hands until the day I threw it away. I have missed all the care and love I took for granted, because I thought you weren't the kind of man I want in life. I must confess that I love you." Donald was shocked, he never expected this from her, she had never given him any sign of her affection , then all of a sudden she's here confessing love to him. With joy he moved closer to her and he kissed her. She said to him "jokingly stealing a kiss is a crime" Donald replied teasing her that a stolen kiss tasted so sweet. He couldn't believe this was happening.

"Please, just stay in my arms for a moment," he said.

They both laughed and hugged each other.
