CONTENT CREATION ON HIVE: A DIFFICULT JOB

Being a content creator on Hive is one hell of a job.

You have to joggle between ¹ running around doing engagement activities in communities and ² creating original & plagiarism-free contents.

Truly, this isn't an easy task.

Each task is fraught with its own challenges, requirements and rules.

Being in a community, you have to realise that you need to be updated with the Community's Rules and guidelines, participate in contests and engage in other author's posts (repeating the same procedure in at least 5 different Communities 😢🤧).

It is scary and seems nearly impossible!

Likewise, when creating an original & plagiarism-free content one has so many obstacles to overcome: From the inception or birth of the ideas, down to the finalisation of the piece; from the scattered ideas and thoughts to the construction, logical flow and articulation of the piece; from a scanty and disorganised work to a well organised work with catchy graphics.

In this movement from non-existence to existence, the author has indeed "suffered a lot."

😭

SAD REALITY 😢

However, sometimes we realize that no matter the stress we've put into our work, the end results seem to betray us and the effort we put into it.

What do I mean by this?

Imagine after writing a content (of 1500 words) that has taken you over 48 hours to create and then posting it to your favourite community, you feel you're the Modern day David that has conquered the Philistine Goliath. Few hours after posting, you go back to your post to know who and who has read your post, commented, reblogged or curated.

You feel your work should attract wonderful Hivians, amazing curators and outstanding curation programs, only for you to check back after 16 hours and see $0.01 vote plus a comment from someone advising you to ensure that you always proofread your work so that people can easily understand what you're putting up.

Oh, shit!

💔

That hurts really bad

And sometimes we may end up getting a poor reward + little or no engagement at the end of the curation window.

It hurts really bad, right?

ANY WAY OUT?

I've experienced it a number of times, and each time it happens, rather than blaming the coordinated system, the wonderful curators and amazing readers, I blame myself.

Don't get me wrong!

I don't go ahead to call myself:

"FAILURE! FAILURE!! FAILURE!!!"

Rather, I see it as an opportunity to learn, re-learn and get better. This will be an opportunity for me to work on people's remarks, comments, advice and suggestions.

I make a music video and you tell me to work on the video and audio quality, or to cite the lyrics I got from external source.

Oh! Wonderful, points noted. I will work on them and get better with my next post.

You inform me that I should work more on my proofreading skills.

Points noted 📝 I'll proofread my work more and make it error-free or reduce the rate of errors in it.

Not only that, it also means that I have to read more authors' posts to get better. Just like the way I keep reading Josediccus (I wanna refrain from tagging) Leofinance contents to get better at my financial contents.

PROGRESS = MORE LEARNING

The more I make substantial progress, the more I discover that I need to learn more.

This discovery should prompt the need to be open-minded and to be open to learning.

One thing I can assure you is that if you are open to learning, you will grow, but if you act as though you have no need to learn more, then I salute you 🙌

The more we climb the ladder of Progress, the more we realize that we have more to learn.

The more we learn; the more we grow;

the more we earn; the more we blow. 😁

Keep on learning; keep on growing; keep on establishing relationships; keep on earning and keep on loving Hive ❤

True words, no one is beyond learning and through that we improve everyday. Being a content creator on Hive is not an easy job and requires sacrifice but it pays in the long run.

Awesome content brother!

Yes, yes!

We improve everyday...

No matter how minute or infinitesimal the progress is, in as much as we are progressing, that's a sign of hope.

It's not an easy job at all... If we focus more on the reward at the initial stage, we may be discouraged.

Na to focus on progress and growth... with engagement ati building relationships... e go go well las las.

Thanks brother 🙏

Wholesome post, helped to get me motivated. It is indeed heartbreaking to see a post I’m extremely proud of underperform, but on the flip side it feels 10x better when I blow past my expectation.
Plus I’m noticing that my average post rewards are getting higher every week 😄

Keep at it!

I am so glad that my little piece motivated you.

but on the flip side it feels 10x better when I blow past my expectation.

This is so true. Posts that you do not give much attention to or expectations get huge reward and payout. Honestly, this brings a unique type of happiness, and we wish every post does the same 😁

The more you grow on the chain, the more you understand how the system works, and the more you also earn from the content you make.

Hive is so wonderful because while the crypto market is down and experiencing the harsh bear season, we can still smile and earn something. Such that when the bull begins the run, we will be smiling even more than the traders on exchange platforms. 😁

Thank you so much for taking out time to read my post.
I'm grateful 🙏

I have always believed that anyone who wants to learn wants to grow in life.

This really speaks to me, it's discouraging to put in the effort and no one sees it. I choose to hold on to the fact that I am still a work in progress and someday the world would see the beauty of every knowledge I have acquired.

True bro
The discouragement no be beans o!
But it is best to channel it positively, if not you'll lose hope.

Learning and growing works in tandem; you can't claim you want to grow and close your mind from learning. It is impossicant.

I choose to hold on to the fact that I am still a work in progress and someday the world would see the beauty of every knowledge I have acquired.

This is really beautiful!

Even the celebrities today, many of them went through a lot, but their consistency and zeal kept them till today.

I believe the world will see it someday.

This!👌🏾

The stress that goes into creating original content that has some value

Omo
No be beans

These days I just try my best to focus more on the love and enjoyment of the writing and the things I learn while making my posts than on the rewards

Because if you pour your heart into something and put mad expectations on it and it doesn't deliver.. omo
E fit wound you

And Whatever rewards and engagement I get are always highly appreciated

Nice one as always boss
You'll cut this soap one day Sha🙌🏻

You know say your writing na some thing wey I dey always wait for eeehn....

Your humour get PhD 😅😅

Honestly, it is difficult!

Making 1 single post with good content should normally take someone 1 week 😅😅 e just be like school term paper.

However, we have to struggle even to make 2 or 3 in a day (this is really difficult).

Honestly, I put lower expectations in the rewards so that I don't get disappointed and distracted.

I've seen days where I get straight $0.00 and I still continue to dey post. I think those days made me a stronger person now.

Well, not only that, but because I do things I normally do on web 2 social media platform such that doing it over here is just like doing it over there without collecting SHI SHI.

But in this case, I can earn from them.

To be honest, every post I make, I always pray to get above $1. I use $1 as my limit. Although I believe I can't get lower than $0.01 😅😅😅

Not because my writing is poor or because I don't rate my content. Not at all.

But the fact is that, you aren't working for anyone that you expect to be paid for every content you make. The reward isn't your right! Except if you made a legal contract with a curator. If not, you rely at their mercy.

And that's why it's best to be consistent in creating good contents, so that the curators will know your worth and your average reward limit and keep increasing.

You just broke it down

As you said
Consistency is key
Not only on hive sef

It doesn't matter how good of a writer you are
If you aren't consistent

It'll be harder

This says it all.. The struggles and hardwork of content creators are underappreciated.

O well,
Thanks for your comment bro.

The struggles and hardwork of content creators are underappreciated.

But I beg to differ.

I really don't think your sentence summarises my post sha!

Well, the concern is.... as a newbie in the world of content creation, you don't expect that every post you write should give you a hit back to back, except if you are working and you have a fixed amount of payment.

But, if its the case of Hive where you aren't working for someone but working to build yourself and your blog, don't you think it's a signal for you to be consistent and get better at what you do?

a comment from someone advising you to ensure that you always proofread your work so that people can easily understand what you're putting up.

I could not just stop laughing when I was about reading this because I was already guessing what you would say and it has happened to me a lot of times 😂😂.

Like you said we should use this critiques to make progress and not to give up.
We should never grow weary of learning and learning because that's what you will have to teach others later.

This is a really beautiful write up, thank you for sharing it with the learners 💙.
