The world of video games is full of an almost infinite variety of characters both in personalities and designs and they can range from amazingly realistic characters, exaggerated characters, animals and humanized creatures, to really curious characters that can be quite strange or bizarre when we discover them for the first time, after thinking and trying to remember all the characters of the different video games I have tried in my life I managed to remember some characters that made me really strange and they are characters from two different video games but both have something in common and that is that they are combat video games, One is the famous "Super Smash Bros Brawl" of the Wii to which I dedicated many hours with my friends and the other is a fairly old and perhaps little known video game that I got to play a few times but alone, this is called "Clay Fighter" in its version for the SNES when I had the emulator as a child on the pc. This thought about strange characters is thanks to the Ready Player Hive initiative devised by @ilaz.aliento which has been quite funny in all its themes.

Mr. Game and Watch

This was a playable character in "Super Smash Bros Brawl" and it was in this title when I met him for the first time and he seemed really strange and out of place among the other characters in the video game. Mr. Game and Watch turns out to be a very old character and that became known in 1980 but I never knew about him until this fighting game and it was quite strange to me his minimalist and simple design where he is only the shadow of a very simple drawing where even all his movements, animations and objects that he took out to make the combat animations were a simple shadow without much detail. It was quite fun and at the same time a bit bizarre to be playing with a shadow against normal characters and with a good graphic design, as well as several details.

As if the character wasn't weird enough, it also seemed to have an exaggeratedly high damage compared to the other characters which added to the aura of mystery of how a simple shadow was able to do so many things and do so much damage. Additionally it had a "Smash" which was the special move quite peculiar and when I saw it the first time I couldn't stop thinking "why? ", for some reason this character turned into a giant octopus with a simple and completely black design just like the character, this octopus occupied practically the whole screen and was blooming half of it while you could move it laterally at the same time the octopus moved the tentacles to hit nearby enemies. It was all pretty weird when you first played it with this character.

These "characters" if you can call them that I also met them in "Super Smash Bros Brawl" due to the fact that it was the first Smash title I played. They were the final bosses in the story mode of this game and I remember that when I was about to reach them I was playing with a friend who had already completed the story mode so I asked him what was the final boss to which he replied that they were a pair of floating hands, you can imagine how strange it sounds to be told that in a fighting game where you use famous Nintendo characters you must face a pair of hands with white gloves and are floating in the air without any body, just floating hands.

The strangest thing about these characters were their movements, not only gave palm strikes and passed giving a fist around the stage that was somewhat predictable taking into account that they were only hands, also made strange movements with the fingers and even launched laser beams of the same, as well as pretending to be a gun to shoot a laser beam with greater range and damage. All this during a space scenario where our platform was moving through space. After defeating them, it is shown how all the characters were simply figures and Master Hand and Crazy Hand were the hands of the person who was playing with the figures of the different characters, a way to make these characters stranger by making them the ones who really control the actions of all the characters in the video game.

Clay Fighter is a fighting video game where weird characters are its main attribute and they compete with each other to see who takes the podium as the weirdest character in the video game. Some characters that could be considered "common" compared to the others are a satirical version of Elvis Presley, a scary clown and an opera singer with a valkyrie helmet, after them we find different extremely strange characters such as a muscular man with a deformed face, a ghost with a pumpkin head and a snowman with an evil appearance.

To complete the podium of strange characters the same has a tie between two characters, one of them is called "Taffy" who at first glance may seem like a doll created with spaghetti pasta long and flat, the same has a rather curious appearance and its movement is very funny besides having a color like yellow or gold that turns out to be quite striking. The other quite strange character is "The Blob" a character with a green gelatinous appearance or that could also be a mass of green clay more watery than normal who when moving is giving small jumps where his whole body is compacted upon impact on the ground and then rise again to its normal size in addition to that his attacks are deforming his body, as well as taking the form of common objects such as a shoe or a boxing glove. Clay Fighter is a video game full of incredibly strange and eye-catching people.

Mr. Game and Watch
