Which era will you prefer?

The world has changed in the last 10 years and a lot of new technologies have been invented or improved, but have you thought about what life was like when the things we have today weren't in existence? I'm talking about the time of our forefathers, maybe the 80s and down below, do you know how things were done during those years?

I was born in the 90s, so I don't know how life was before then but I'm fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of how life was in early 2000. One thing I do admire even up to today is how simple life was back in those days. Human interaction was very high and we didn't have much technology as we have today that keeps us from having one on one discussions with our neighbors (I'm talking about things like social media and others).

I was a very outdoor person during those years coz I didn't have a lot of things that will keep me indoors but these days, my phone and laptop usually keep me busy indoors all the time and I find it hard to stay away from them and spend time outdoors. I will admit that life was very fun back then, especially during the Christmas periods and you can instantly start feeling the Christmas spirit right from September but these days, it doesn't feel that way anymore.

Will I prefer the old days?

Even though I said I love how fun the old days were, I'm still going to pick this present modern world. Both options have advantages and disadvantages but after weighing both of them, I will choose to live in the modern world. A lot of technologies now exist today that weren't present in the past and that has made our lives a lot easier.

Think about how life was before the invention of telephones. My mom used to tell me of how she usually wrote letters if she wants to communicate with someone in a far place. The letters usually take days or even weeks to be delivered and she will have to wait for a couple more days before she can get the person's reply, but these days we can instantly send a message to someone in another part of the world and they will reply in mere seconds. Things have gotten faster and more convenient!

Should we then talk about transportation? In the past, people rely on the use of animals like camels, donkeys, and horses to travel to far distances, and some who couldn't afford those animals will have to trek a very far distance which will take days. But today, we have cars, buses, trains, airplanes, and all other modes of transportation that have made life a lot easier.

But one good thing about the past is that people were much healthier. The lifespan of an average adult during that era is far longer j than what we have today. Diseases like cancer weren't very common those days and that's mostly because our forefathers eat mostly fresh foods compared to the processed and fast foods we have today.

They were much stronger during that era because they do a lot of physical activities due to the lack of most of the technological innovations we have today. Those technologies we have today have no doubt made things easier for us, but it has also made us lazier because we now rely on those technologies a lot.

But despite all these disadvantages I have mentioned about the modern world, I still believe it's much better than the way things were in the past. We can easily avoid those negative aspects of the modern world if we maintain a healthy lifestyle. Eating healthy foods and staying fit are some of the ways we can maintain a healthy lifestyle, those are some of the things within our control but some other things will depend on the collective efforts of everyone (I'm talking about things like pollution and global warming).

Life has become more complicated albeit easier now when compared to the times of our forefathers. You might ask; how can something be complicated and easy at the same time? What I mean is that; technology has indeed made things easier but a lot of those technologies are sophisticated and aren't really simple to use. For example; washing machine. In the past, there aren't anything like washing machines, and everyone used their hands to do laundry but the washing machine we have today can't be used by just anybody without learning how it works first; it isn't so simple but yet it's the easier way of doing laundry.

A lot of problems have been introduced into the modern world due to the advancement I'm technology but that doesn't mean our forefathers didn't have problems of their own. If I were to choose, I will rather deal with today's problem which might require a sophisticated solution rather than deal with the problems our forefathers faced. Let's just say I love a good challenge that can be solved with modern technologies.

I was born in the 1960s.

Many things were simpler; however, many things have stayed the same.

For example, I remember distinctly that the world was going to end in the 80s if we failed to adopt socialism to save the planet.

There was a brief period when the world wasn't about to end.

But then it was about to end in the 2000s if we didn't adopt socialism to stop pollution.

I remember that things were beyond all hope and the world was going to end in 2022 if we didn't adopt socialism. Adopting socialism will stop pollution.

Oddly, socialist countries seem to have worse pollution than the capitalist countries poised to end the world.

In other words, technology has made many things better. The non-stop political squealing seems to be getting louder.

It looks like history was just a bunch of repetitions and that has also spilled into today's modern world. I can still remember that the world was predicted to end in 2012 but I can't recall if it was about socialism. Thank you for your wonderful comment, I learnt a couple of things

The narrative that the world will end if people do not repent has been around since antiquity.

The term "repent" means to change for the better.

It is not a bad thing for people to continually reassess their lives and find ways to improve things.

We should be looking for ways to reduce pollution and to increase the good that results from our actions.

There is value to having profits of doom.

The funny thing I find about profits of doom is that many of them get so caught up in their narrative that they fail to assess if their actions are doing good or bringing harm.

You're definitely right on that, sometimes we humans need a wake-up call to remind us to reevaluate the way we do things, and that can come in the form of calls of doom. Fear has a way of pushing us to do better. Thanks for the lecture and thank you for the tokens as well.

Personally, I still believe comparing things like this won't be that holistic because they are set in different times. I think only when the conditions are set the same, the comparison is better. Anyway, each had its own pros and cons. Technological advancements grow by the year. Social media is okay but it has replaced normal natural interaction to an extent, pollution is more now than then...and so on.

But you did well in placing each feature and explaining them. Moreover, I love your graphics, it is beautiful.😁

Yeah I know that comparing things this way isn't the best approach but the major difference between that period and now is the technologies we have, that's why I based my comparison on that. Both eras have their pros and cons but after weighing both, I still prefer the modern world.

Thanks for the compliment 😊

Very well, the technology advancement is truly the major difference that exists. By the way, who won't prefer the modern world? 😅

I was also privileged to witness life then as it was simple and people tend to spend more time with family and friends but since technology came into limelight, we find excuse of glueing ourselves to our phones and laptops which is gradually killing the relationship we once had then.

Though, I will also choose the modern life because of how things are made easier for us compared to how it was in the past.

Exactly, face to face human interaction has reduced over the years but I believe that's mostly individual choice, that won't make me prefer the era of our forefathers, I love the technologies we have today

I just brought out the advantages and disadvantages of both eras but in the end of the day, I will still pick the modern world 😁

Life before is much simpler but full of fun. And you really have to work hard because machines doesn't exist that time. But same as you, I will still choose my today than my yesterday. I missed the old days yes, but life is much advance now and admit it or not, life is easier today with thr help od technologies. And yeah, Both has advantage and disadvantage.

Technology has made the world much easier and comfortable, I won't like to go back to the era where we don't have these technologies, I prefer the modern world 😊

Yeah, technology has brought it's own share of problems into the world. But we can't stop using it because of that. We have come to rely too heavily on it.

Thank you for sharing this with us.

That's just it, we can't stop use technologies because of the problems that comes with it, rather we can proffer solutions to those problems. Thanks for reading
