I'm back with a new homemade recipe.
I'll share my cooking recipe of Swan curryπŸ˜‹πŸ‘©πŸ½β€πŸ³.

Today, I will share with you a delicious swan meat recipe. This swan dish is my favorite. This swan meat curry tastes great with fried rice, white rice, bread, paratha, hotchpot. Basically, I cook duck a lot during winter though swan is not what I cook all the time. The hardest part of cooking a duck is cleaning the skin. I also had a bit of trouble but after cooking I forget that when it tastes so good, haha. Anyway, I will try to tell you how I cooked this dish.

Let's see how I cooked Swan curry at my home.


Ingredients & Steps to follow:

  • Swan meat
  • Onion: 2 cups chopped onions.
  • Oil: 1/3 cup
  • Ginger paste: 2 tbsp
  • Garlic paste: 2 tbsp
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 4/5 cardamom
  • 2/3 cinnamon
  • One and a half tablespoon of turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp cumin powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Potato

The process to follow:

The swan I cooked was a very big one. The skin had many small feathers so I burnt the skin of the swan well for some time. Then I washed and cleaned it very well. It took me a long time to clear it though.

Then I cut the swan very carefully because it was so big and tough to cut. I had to carefully cut it into small pieces. For cooking, I took the best pieces and used lemon juice to clean them again. Because any type of duck meat has a certain flavor which I don't like. So, I kept the cutting pieces in lemon water for some time. It removed the bad smell. I separated the meat from the lemon juice and washed them again. I kept the skin because cooking meat with skin gives a different taste.

I use potatoes in any meat curry because I like potatoes very much. This curry has one taste with potatoes and another taste without potatoes. I cooked it in 2 ways. I guessed it'll taste better when cooked with potatoes so I took 2 potatoes and cleaned them and cut them into small pieces.

After heat the oil in a pan, I added the chopped onions and all kinds of spices and fried for a while. When the onion became soft and brownish, I added ginger paste and garlic paste to it. Then I added a little water so the spices do not get burned. Remember, the dish won't be tasty if the spices burns. So, water is must.

Then I added turmeric powder, chili powder, cumin powder and salt to taste. I cooked all these ingredients together for 5 minutes. The better these spices are cooked, the more delicious the dish will be. So, I cooked it a little longer this time.

When the oil floats up from all the spices and the beautiful aroma comes out, I put the washed swan meat into the pan and I mixed it very well with the spices. I did not add any extra water to it because there were already extra water came out of the meat.

When the water dried up, I covered it with a very small amount of water because it takes a little longer to cook swan meat as the muscles are too strong. It took some time to cook the meat. The longer this stage lasts, the better the cooking but you should be careful that its not too long as excess of anything is bad.

I cooking the meat for about 15 minutes and I kept some gravy in this recipe. After about 15 minutes of cooking, my dish was fully cooked. Then I added roasted cumin powder to the curry and kept it for about 5 minutes. Adding this fried cumin powder makes the cooking smell very nice and it is also very tasty to eat. Everyone in our house enjoyed it very much. Anyway, the cooking of the swan is over at this stage.

After cooking the swan curry I kept some in a nice bowl for serving. This is my swan curry. Hope you like it. Now let me tell a little about the benefits of swan meat. Swan meat is an excellent source of protein that keeps us healthy by building and repairing our muscles, skin and blood. Swan eggs are also very nutritious. I served this swan curry with white rice. At the beginning, I told you that this curry can be eaten with any item and we chose white rice. I served it with lemon and salad.
