Christmas and Especulation go Hand by Hand in this Country (ENG) (ESP)

One of the things I don't like about Christmas season in Venezuela is the constant speculations in all the prices. People want to earn all the money possible just in one month. Food, toys, services and medicines go up and apart from that some medical and pharmacological expenses go up as well.

Wherever you go you can find Christmas motives to attract people. That attitude of merchants in the malls keep people away and make them to look for prices in places where they think the products are cheaper. Usually in the public places, food are fresher and cheaper, but you have to go there very early in the morning where you will find vans coming from many parts of the country to offer their products. When they sell nearly all the products they low the prices and they finish the sales about 10 o'clock in the morning because they want to travel back with the vans empty.

People like to visit the clothes markets to obtain they need to wear in those festive days. In the malls is unbuyable or they visit shops that are franchises like Traki. Traki is a shop that offer low prices in January at half prices, but not all is what you like. Some people prefer to buy clothes in another kind of shops because the franchises offer clothes with the same colors and motive and you will find people wearing the same dress or shoes wherever you go, lol, lol.

In this country rich people don't have problems acquiring what they want however, you see them buying in these kind of franchises because economy is economy. They need to save money to travel abroad to visit their families to celebrate Christmas. You need to save a big quantity of money to go to USA because you have to travel to Bogota to find a Visa and that costs a lot of money. Here we are rich and poor people, the middle class disappeared. The salaries are too low and the only way to complete for your expenses is receiving money from family or generous friends living abroad.

The worst thing of the speculation in this country is the health factor. Doctors work all year around at a high costs and that it is the sacrifices of people to obtain health, and at Christmas time they decide to stop working because they have their pockets full of money and take deserved vacations to rest and visit their families with destiny to USA and Spain. The problems is that they tell you that they will come back in March and that they are leaving a substitute doctor that you don't know and usually, it is a general internist that hasn't the experience you are looking for. I agree they have a life and that they need vacations, but why it has to take so long.

You can see lots of people queuing in the pharmacies buying medicines self medicated to solve their health problems. Medicines are at a high cost and hopefully you will find them opened at Christmas season because they go on vacations too. The only pharmacy opened all the time is the Pharmatodo Chain, but you can imagine the prices of the medicines. I have been having the need to see a doctor, but I don't want to go to the emergency ward in a hospital because normally, they are students of the last year in medicine. I am resting in my bed waiting for the doctors I see to come back. The laboratories increase the prices of the tests at Christmas time because the bionalist is gone too.

I don't know if I am exaggerating, but this is my experience. I need to start the chemotherapy and my oncologist is far away. To live in this country represents a big challenge and a lot of patience, and that is the reason why many people are emigrating to another countries. I wish we could to dedicate to improve what we have instead of running away.

Una de las cosas que no me gusta de la temporada navideña en Venezuela es la constante especulación en todos los precios. La gente quiere ganar todo el dinero posible sólo en un mes. La comida, los juguetes, los servicios y las medicinas suben de precios y también algunos gastos médicos y farmacológicos aumentan desmedidamente.

Dondequiera que vamos encontramos motivos navideños para atraer a la gente. Esa actitud de los comerciantes en los centros comerciales aleja a la gente y hace que busquen precios en lugares donde creen que los productos son más baratos. Por lo general, en los lugares públicos, los alimentos son más frescos y más baratos, pero hay que ir allí muy temprano en la mañana donde se encuentran camiones que vienen de muchas partes del país para ofrecer sus productos. Cuando venden casi todos los productos bajan los precios y terminan las ventas a las 10 de la mañana porque quieren regresar con los camiones vacíos.

A la gente le gusta visitar los mercados de ropa para conseguir lo que necesita llevar en esos días festivos. En los centros comerciales es imposible comprar o se visitan tiendas que son franquicias como Traki. Traki es una tienda que ofrece precios bajos en Enero a mitad de precio, pero no todo es lo que te gusta. Hay gente que prefiere comprar ropa en otro tipo de tiendas porque las franquicias ofrecen ropa con los mismos colores y motivos y te encuentras con gente que lleva el mismo vestido o zapatos a donde vayas, jaja.

En este país la gente rica no tiene problemas para adquirir lo que quiere sin embargo, los ves comprando en este tipo de franquicias porque la economía es la economía. Necesitan ahorrar dinero para viajar al extranjero a visitar a sus familias para celebrar la Navidad. Necesitan ahorrar una gran cantidad de dinero para ir a USA porque tienen que viajar a Bogotá para buscar una Visa y eso cuesta mucho dinero. Aquí somos ricos y pobres, la clase media desapareció. Los sueldos son muy bajos y la única forma de completar tus gastos es recibiendo dinero de familiares o amigos generosos que viven en el extranjero.

Lo peor de la especulación en este país es el factor salu. Los médicos trabajan todo el año a un alto costo y eso es el sacrificio de la gente para conseguir salud, y en la época navideña deciden dejar de trabajar porque tienen los bolsillos llenos de dinero y se toman unas merecidas vacaciones para descansar y visitar a sus familias con destino a USA y España. Los problemas es que te dicen que volverán en marzo y que dejan un médico sustituto que no conoces y normalmente, es un internista general que no tiene la experiencia que buscas. Estoy de acuerdo en que tienen una vida y que necesitan vacaciones, pero por qué tienen que ser tan largas.

Se puede ver a mucha gente haciendo cola en las farmacias comprando medicamentos auto medicados para solucionar sus problemas de salud. Las medicinas tienen un alto costo y con suerte las encuentras abiertas en la temporada navideña porque también se van de vacaciones. La única farmacia abierta todo el tiempo es la de la cadena Pharmatodo, pero te puedes imaginar los precios de los medicamentos. He tenido la necesidad de ver a un médico, pero no quiero ir a la sala de urgencias de un hospital porque normalmente tienen estudiantes del último año de medicina. Estoy descansando en mi cama a la espera de que vuelvan los médicos que me atienden. Los laboratorios aumentan los precios de los examenes de rutina porque el bionalista también se ha ido.

No sé si estoy exagerando, pero esta es mi experiencia. Tengo que empezar la quimioterapia y mi oncólogo está muy lejos. Vivir en este país representa un gran reto y mucha paciencia, por eso mucha gente está emigrando a otros países. Ojalá pudiéramos dedicarnos a mejorar lo que tenemos en lugar de huir.
