A very Spicy and Fishy Affair!

Today's dinner destination was once again the famous Chomp Chomp Food Centre. First opened in 1972, this is definitely one of the famous food places in Singapore. It is always a challenge to find seats at this popular place especially during the peak hours of dinner time. Today was no exception but that's just a testament to the good food there right?

I must say my photos of the food today aren't particularly photogenic. The nature of these dishes I ordered means that they're usually covered in lots of sauces and chilli. Those are definitely less than ideal situations when it comes to trying to get a nice picture. Of course, I must admit that I am not some professional photographer, or even a particularly good one at all too. But what matters is that the food is good. 👍🏻

All the dishes ordered today were seafood based, with almost all actually ordered from just one particular stall. First up was a BBQed Sting Ray covered in spicy and tasty Sambal Chilli. A dash of lime over it gives it just the perfect amount of tangy taste to go with the spice. Grilled to perfection, it was juicy and really tasty.

There was also a plate of clams and squid rings. Both of which were once again covered in spice. The squid was cooked in a similar style to the fish but the clams were a more gravy-ish version. I thought the slurpy and generous amounts of gravy made for a great pseudo soup to go with the clams.

The final dish was an Oyster Omelette. Also called "Orh Jian" in the local language, it is more like a pancake? (for lack of a better description) It is pan fried with a starchy based wrapped with a generous serving of eggs coated over it. Oysters are thrown in together in the cooking process to give it that particular oyster taste. It is then paired with a tangy chilli. The result is a nice crispy dish that's crisp on the outside yet soft and fluffy on the inside.

Needless to say, this was another very satisfying meal yet again. There goes all my calories burnt from my walk to the place. I had to make up for it with a walk back on my return trip home. :)
