Social Media; Choosing Authenticity over Illusion.

I grew up to understand the saying that all that glitters is not gold and judging a book by its cover can be a terrible mistake in life. I haven't been around for a long time but I have learned a few things with the short time I have spent in the world.
A lot is happening in the world today and social media has inspired both good and bad things across the world. I won't blame social media for whatever might have happened because we humans are the ones responsible for what's happening on different social platforms. It would just be an ordinary platform without our engagement there.

Although I am an extrovert but not a social media freak because of the things happening there, many youth are victims of social media negativity just because they choose to believe everything they see online. As of now, there are things I believe and things I don't, I don't have to follow the crowd when I know what's good and bad for me.

Social media is meant to be used for positive things but it's the other way around these days. I used different social apps for two reasons which are to keep memories and promote my business when the time comes. I always have less activity to do because I know that a lot of things happening on social media aren't true. I prefer to spend more than engaging in the real world because that reality and it's what matters.

I see engaging on social platforms as reading a book, it's the theoretical part of life which doesn't really matter and the practical is what we need that's why I embrace reality more.

Many people use social media to promote lies and their fake way of life and some people believe in these lies and ruin their lives with them. It takes a disciplined person and God's grace to be able to resist the temptation circulating on different social platforms today and it's one of the reasons why I don't stay too long exploring them.

Many youths today will tell you they are depressed and if you look deeply, you will realize that they are being oppressed with things they see online and it messes up their heads badly.

Some years ago, my school wanted to celebrate students reunions and I was appointed as one of the exco and event planning committee. While we were rubbing minds, one of the exco members said that fingers aren't equal and it's best if we request the big boys and girls to contribute more towards the event to cover up for those who aren't privileged and I was forced to ask him how do we know those that are financially okay compared to those who aren't financially buoyant.

He responded that he has many of them as Facebook friends and he sees everything they are doing.

I couldn't hold back laughter that day because he had been deceived by people just because of the things they posted online. I didn't oppose his suggestion and things could have gotten really messed up if we had waited for his so-called big boys and girls to make the biggest donations for the event.
After thinking about it critically, I don't blame those who post their fake lives much and I blame those who choose to believe or rate their life with things they see online.

Despite not blaming those who live fake lives, I have tried understanding but can't comprehend why people choose to live a fake life online, it's a free world though but I expect everyone to have dignity and some self-respect. The act of living fake has made a lot of people lose some life-changing opportunities that they might probably not recover from again in their entire lives.

I am not saying that everything online is fake but there are more fake than original people out there on different platforms. Since I joined Hive blockchain, I realised that I have spent a lot of time engaging here even though it's still not much.

I sense more originality here and this is what I expect on other social platforms. Social media should be a world where no one needs to oppress anyone or feel oppressed by what's happening there.

Honestly it’s true
Many people, so many people promote their lies on social media and live so fake because nobody would know
It’s really a sad thing

It's really annoying... I don't have anyone to impress and just do my thing.

If you are not okay with the original me then you can just hit the unfollow button or probably block me.

I can't agree more with this. I mean wanting to be what someone you don't know is, it's another level of madness entirely. A good example is the recent trend of Moses bliss proposal, now you find many girls wanting something like that... It's just a shame.
