Kutna Hora Bone Church
Hello everyone! I'm here to share the wonderful memories I had during my visit to Kutna Hora. We woke up at 6 in the morning and set our course for Kutna Hora to have a smooth experience. It's about a 60 minute journey from Prague. Luckily the weather was nice. Our plan included visiting places like the ossuary, museum, church and more.
We arrived in Kutna Hora after a 50 minute train ride.
A fun tunnel with Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin. Different writers, dinosaurs.
Kostrica Castle 7 kilometers away from here. We took a bus there. Yes, after getting off the train we walked straight about 10 meters and turned left. There's a stop right here. Paid buses will be available here 12 crowns per person. Actually it's normal, a small amount.
We entered a bar in the center, then they showed us the map and gave us brochures. Kutna Hora has all the churches and cathedrals, a museum, a mine, everything is here. We headed towards the place where the bones are displayed, that's why we came here. We got our tickets, 90 crowns per person, actually, it's not too expensive.
A chapel filled with bones arranged in the Gothic style. They used about 60,000 human skeletons to arrange such an interior. All skulls and bones are on display. The atmosphere is very impressive, adorned with human skeletons inside. An interesting place I recommend visiting if you think you won't be scared.
Brochures and entrance signs tell us the history of the Church which began in 1278. It all starts with the head priest of the monastery in Kutna Hora bringing back soil from Jerusalem. Those who hear about this holy soil want to be buried here.
Elderly people come to Sedlec to spend their final days and be buried here. Deaths increase after the Great Plague, and when the Sedlec Cemetery is full, a new church is built nearby and the bones are stored in the basement. These bones are collected over time by a monk and remain here for centuries. In 1870 the sculptor Frantisek Rint begins work on the task assigned to him, giving the church its present appearance.
This chandelier is made from human skulls and vertebral bones.
We went on Wednesday. It was good that there weren't too many people.
After we came out, we decided to save some time and walked through. It would take twentyfive minutes to wait for the bus.
This place is very nice. A baby made of wood. And it seems to me like a kind of snowman, yeah. Fun.
We came across the old palace where the central mint of Kutna Hora is located. Coins used to be minted here. This building used to house the city square, a military hospital and even a prison and a school.
The ticket is only 130 crowns. We bought tickets and visited the mining museum downstairs. The inside of the mine is wonderful.
After the mine, we entered a pizzeria a wonderful Italian restaurant. We ordered a pizza with ham, cheese, mushrooms and slices of salami. We also got some beer. We ate and now it's time to bid farewell to the city.
Kutna Hora is a wonderful place. Different from everywhere we've been, a small village but with lots of different buildings, architecture, monuments and statues. Birds are singing everywhere, everything is blooming. I hope you have enjoyed it too.

@larissalugo I enjoyed it through your images, but I confess that although the history of the church of the bones must be interesting, it scares me a little, I think it is shocking to see so many bones together.
Thank you for your comment. The Kutna Hora Bone Church can indeed be unsettling for some people. It offers a unique experience and has an interesting history.
