Salzburg, Austria - Exploring Mozart's City

Hello everyone, I would like to share my impressions of our trip to Salzburg with you. In my previous post, I talked about Hallstatt. There, we tested the NumA service to the fullest. NumA seems to be a German venture dealing with short-term rental housing. We had a different experience from our previous hotel in Salzburg.

Upon arrival, all the information provided to us included keys to electronic locks. We accessed our space by entering a code. Everything looked very elegant. There was a spacious and comfortable bedroom with the necessary cosmetics in the bathroom. There was also a coffee machine in the room, and actually another bed, a sofa. I didn't know much about Salzburg, I only knew it was the birthplace of Mozart, probably like everyone else. So, we eagerly started exploring and learning about this place for three days.

We felt great on the first day. The weather was a bit cloudy and cool. Everything was very calm and peaceful.

Although we had been here for a while, we hadn't yet tried the sausages typical of Austria. So, we ordered sausages and eagerly awaited our meal. I had heard before that the Austrian versions of sausages were different from the German ones. Our Austrian sausages arrived. It was a very nice portion.

Then we called the Tourism Center because we were considering buying Salzburg cards. These cards provided free entry to many important museums. We thought it was more economical, of course, better than paying for everything separately. So, we got a Zell am See card. If you have an active plan and specific places to go, this can certainly be advantageous because for example, we needed to use the cable car today and the cable car ticket for one person was 10 euros. So, we had to pay a total of 20 euros for two people. Besides that, we were planning to visit a few museums and go to a few important places.

We got on the cable car. Thanks to the Zell am See card, we passed for free here, otherwise we would have to pay 10-15 euros per person. It was really surprising, it was very beautiful. We couldn't even imagine it would be this beautiful.

We fell in love with this beautiful scenery surrounded by the Alps. We visited a restaurant on the castle hill here. We had a cup of tea and continued on our way. The sun came out, and we enjoyed the wonderful atmosphere.

While wandering around the city, we saw many luxury stores. This really meant a lot of things. The presence of luxury brand stores in a small town either indicated that the local population was quite wealthy or that a large number of tourists who shop for luxury goods come here really.

Before visiting Mozart's house, we came across a cheese shop. There were many types of cheese, all of them were beautiful. Then we took the elevator to the museum. It was really wonderful. It would be strange to be in Mozart's hometown and not go to the Mozart Museum, so we went there.

I learned interesting facts about Salzburg. According to my friend, there was a quite big and powerful football team in Salzburg, called Red Bull Salzburg. This team was playing in the Champions League and sometimes competing with teams like Real Madrid.

427.jpg

There were a few hours left until the museums closed, which was quite unusual. Stores in Salzburg were open until 7 in the evening, while museums were open until 5 in the evening. After that, everything closed, and nothing worked, so everything had to be taken care of in the first half of the day.

We entered the museum again with the Salzburg card, completely free. Otherwise, we would have to pay a total of 26 euros, which means 13 euros per person.

Then unexpectedly, we found ourselves somewhere. Organ concerts were held here starting from 5 pm. We were on the floor where the organ was and where the musician sat. I noticed that the apartments were not made of houses here; there were many different museum areas within this complex. I counted four or maybe five different museum areas. Not only original interior spaces but also painting collections and musical instruments were exhibited. One ticket gave us access to all exhibitions, and of course, with the Salzburg card, we could go to all exhibitions completely free.

We visited a nearby restaurant for dinner and ordered schnitzel. They brought our meal, my schnitzel was big, it was wonderful. We had our breakfast at the hotel on the last day, then we packed our things and wandered a bit more, we had some time until our train.

The signs in Salzburg were really like a separate work of art, fitting wonderfully into the architectural identity of the city. On the last day, we went to the cheese shop. We didn't buy cheese the day before, so we decided to do some shopping before leaving. We chose a truffle cheese. Yes, it was Dutch cheese, and the taste was really wonderful.

I knew nothing about Salzburg before coming here, I only knew it was the birthplace of Mozart. As far as I saw, Salzburg is a place where extremely hospitable people live. In this city, when your eyes meet someone else's, whether in a hotel, café, everyone greets each other. This was a nice indication of how tolerant the city was. Also, Salzburg is an environmentally friendly place. Electric buses and trolleybuses are widely used in public transport, and the air quality and overall environmental situation are quite good. Here, you can take a journey back in time as if you were in the interiors of the 18th century.

Salzburg is a place where you can explore historic streets, wander around the city. And of course, it has magnificent views of the Austrian Alps. Finally, Salzburg is not only the birthplace of Mozart but also an extremely musical city. The famous "Sound of Music" film was shot here, and important music festivals are held here annually. We had our last lunch before leaving and prepared to go to our next stop by train. This is where my post ends. Thank you for reading.
